Enacted in 2012, the week of Labor Day is "Ohio Coal Miners Week," honoring the citizens of Ohio who work or have worked in the coal mines of our state. According to the @OhioCoalAssn, the Ohio coal industry provides 33,000+ jobs and powers over 69% of our electric grid!

I had the privilege of addressing the members of the Washington Coal Club today, along with my Congressional Coal Caucus co-chair, Congresswoman Hageman. Our caucus is at forefront of pushing back against the Biden Administration’s anti-coal agenda. As a nation, we need to address the rapidly diminishing reliable coal-fired power that is coming off our grid – thanks to President Biden’s EPA regulations -- with no replacement. This isn’t an ideological debate, this is about keeping America’s lights on.

China has been permitting 2 new coal plants a week. That makes sense, because they actually want more energy. We, unfortunately, seem to want less energy. (On @FoxBusiness with Larry Kudlow.)








Coal is more dependable than natural gas because it can be stored in large quantities and is less susceptible to supply disruptions than natural gas, which requires transport pipelines. This is just another reason coal is irreplaceable.
