John Tortorella declined to speak with the media after advancing to the Western Conference finals. The Golden Knights also didn’t open the dressing room after the game. They brought 1 player into a side room to speak, along with the two who spoke at the podium. I’ve been covering the NHL for nine years and never seen either of those happen once.

The media supposedly wants the Oilers to have swagger. The Oilers under Woodcroft had swagger. The media didn’t like the swagger b/c it was sometimes directed at them. Spec, in particular, took regular beatings. The media wants Knob. He’s the opposite of swagger.

Having fun comes from players. Group is wound tight. 97 desperately wants to win and I understand why, and at times that laser focus can be counterproductive. In COL they talked about how Landeskog coming back lowered the temperature in the room. Same coach. It isn’t awful in EDM but they could benefit from having pressure knob turned down in season and have a bit of fun on and off the ice.

Oilers have been a horror show.
Their 5x5 defensive play is ghastly. They are allowing 2.63 GA/GP at 5x5.
Can't get a timely save.
Players, coaches and GM need to do their part to get out of this rut. Lots of guys need to do more.
