I hope by now everybody knows who are Kukis? To re-iterate, originally Kuki is an umbrella term given by the British in the 19th century to recognise the Kuki-Chin-Zo community that we know today. This included Thadou, Paite, Simpte, Gangte, Vaiphei, Hmar, etc. tribes. Kuki, being an umbrella term, doesn’t have its own ethnic identifiers such as culture, language, etc. so when the Kaka Kelelkar Commission reorganised Manipur’s ST list in 1956, the separate tribes listed above were listed as ST and the term Kuki was removed as it was not a tribe. The term Kuki we know today is different from the Kuki that existed pre 1956. Today’s Kuki, also known as AKT (Any Kuki Tribe) is entirely a subset of the Thadou community together with the recent illegal immigrants from Myanmar, many of whom were imported by the Kuki militant groups as poppy cultivation and drug manufacturing experts. So today’s 𝐊𝐮𝐤𝐢 = 𝐀𝐊𝐓 = 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐮 + 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 The voices of Thadous who do not subscribe to the Kuki ideology but want to protect the Thadou identity and believe in peace and harmony among the coexisting communities and believe in the idea of Manipur are intimidated and suppressed by the armed Kukis, sometimes giving them capital punishment for breaking their dictates! The recent killing of the three Thadou church leaders was allegedly an example. See below an article by a proud Thadou diaspora member about how it feels to be a peace loving Thadou in Manipur. Tribute to Thadou Church Leader Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou — Martyr for Truth, Faith, Peace, and Dignity indiatodayne.in/opinion/story/… via @IndiaTodayNE

#Naga women across the hill districts of #Manipur staged mass protests on Tuesday demanding the safe release of six missing Naga hostages allegedly abducted by armed miscreants. Large demonstrations were held in several Naga-inhabited areas, with women carrying placards and raising slogans condemning the abduction and calling for immediate intervention from the authorities. The protest seen here was held at #Noney headquarters and Khoupum in Noney district, where hundreds of women gathered to express solidarity with the families of the missing persons and urge the government to ensure their safe return. #ManipurHills #UkhrulTimes

Nearly two weeks after suspected #Myanmar-based militants carried out coordinated attacks on villages along the Indo-Myanmar border in #Manipur’s #Kamjong district, residents say they are still living without adequate security support, with fear and uncertainty continuing to dominate daily life. The attacks took place in the early hours of May 7 when armed men allegedly crossed over from the Myanmar side and targeted #Tangkhul Naga-inhabited villages, including Z Choro, Wanglee and Namlee. Villagers said the attackers opened indiscriminate fire before setting houses ablaze and looting properties.

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM)’s claim that they have “no idea” about the fate of the six missing Liangmai Naga Pastors & civilians is nothing but a blatant lie. @Kuki_Inpi @IndiaTodayNE @News18Northeast @NELiveTV @ndtv @UN_HRC @UNHumanRights @UN Everyone knows these six Liangmai Nagas were kidnapped in connection with the actions of armed Kuki militant groups operating in the region. To now pretend ignorance is an insult to the intelligence of the people and an attempt to evade responsibility through deception and cowardice. If your armed groups are innocent, then cooperate transparently and help bring back the missing men safely. But if they have already been killed, then stop hiding behind press statements and political narratives. Have the courage to admit the truth instead of misleading the public. History repeatedly judges those who normalize abduction, hostage-taking, denial, and deception against fellow human beings. The continued silence and evasiveness over the fate of the six Liangmai Nagas only deepens suspicion and exposes an inhumane and dishonest character before the world. The families of the missing deserve truth, accountability, and justice, not fabricated ignorance.

@amazonIN Why are AmazonNow delivery agents calling me to collect my order from a place half a kilometre away saying that his location map shows that he has reached the location? If its delivery partners are going to behave like this, Amazon should not AmazonNow business.

The Government of India has created “buffer zones” without any legal basis. I am stopped by security forces from visiting my own constituency, despite there being no legal order. This is unconstitutional. The April 7 incident occurred within one of these so-called buffer zones. A police station and a CRPF unit were just a few kilometers away, yet neither responded. They arrived only after several hours, reflecting a careless response and a serious administrative failure. : Congress MP @Bimol_Akoijam ji
