@Lordmiles They know it's a meaningless, shallow interaction that doesn't warrant a response. You don't actually care about them, or care how they're doing. You're just saying it to be "fake friendly".

Do you ever just say “hi” or “hey how are you?” to a black / brown cashier and they remain silent during the entire transaction? What’s up with that? Happened to me 3 times this morning

I sense a lot of West Ham fans are thinking, "OK we go down and spend a year in the Championship, but when we go back up again..." Like the Championship is a formality. You'll find out Hammers.

@PositivFuturist This is the wrong one for them to start at, there will be other by-elections in future, it’s actually important that Burnham doesn’t win this one for ILR reforms and increase Labour chaos

Last point on Makerfield.. If Restore are NOT a hyper competent party, then they should stop wasting our time and go back to being a pressure group. Makerfield requires a moonshot that only a hyper competent organisation could achieve. So it's sorta the ideal scenario to settle many debates at once.

@danwoff98 I agree with the sentiment but the time to really do this was at Palace and Brentford, neither of which we got the result we needed

Been to many huge games over the years, 2006 FA Cup final, that final day at Old Trafford, 2012 play-off final, Prague… but today tops the lot for nerves I’ve felt before a game. Huge one this, please turn up West Ham.

I have never understood the Eastern and Northern European mindset of going on vacation during summer. When your city is 75 degrees and beautiful and everything is available, you go to Greece and pay $300 a day to turn yourself into a lobster. Instead of just... going in November. You know, when your city is 40 and dreary and grey with 4 hours of "sun "a day. And Greece is 75 and you get a private beach. Make it make sense.

I’ve long warned that Labour’s attacks on wealth creators and entrepreneurs would cost Britain. Now the Sunday Times Rich List gives us the results: it’s a bloodbath. 1 in 3 left the UK. Here's why top taxpayers and philanthropists are fleeing like it's the 1970s again. 🧵👇

@andrew_lilico @WalkerMarcus It was decreed by judges. The blobocracy treat judicial decisions like the word of God issued on stone tablets so rush to comply with whatever they decide. The issues at hand are irrelevant to them and they are the only ones who matter ultimately

This Asda-Next-Birmingham-Tesco thing with "Equal pay for work of equal value" - surely no-one actually believes that's how things should work? I've never seen a single attempt to defend it. So why, given everyone agrees it's unutterably stupid, doesn't someone act to stop it?

@DavidJPIatt @GoodwinMJ Keep the local candidate, put Zia and Goodwin with him 24/7 for the campaign. Insist that the local guy talks about the local issues and how they relate to Westminster, the others answer for any national questions of which there will be many.

@EternalEnglish @Babygravy9 It was actually that random Italian couple that did the best pills at the squat parties in the late 90s. The German geezer with curly hair as well.

@Frencheconomics @StevoLaughton Burnham doesn't have to take on Greens in Makerfield. No students, no Muslims. It's a traditional working class, they have no time for Palestine or Trans rights. This is straight Reform vs Labour.

11bp jump on the 10-year Gilt at the market open to 5.11%. The dynamic of this Makerfield by-election will be Andy Burnham making Green Party-appeasing noises, the Gilt Market will see yields jump, Burnham will have to qualify his comments. Rinse. Repeat. For Six Weeks.
Simon French tweet media
Simon French@Frencheconomics

The Pound is softer, yields are higher on the Josh Simons/ Burnham news. This is not trying to “constrain democratic choice” this is rational repricing of expectations for more Gilt issuance, and more inflation.

@baylissbaghdad This is nonsensical hyperbole. Partly because it is so obviously exaggerated for effect but mostly because it is founded on a gaping misapprehension about the Tory Party MPs. You are normally so much more considered than this.

I am sure she's genuinely furious, but the damage is done. Who will be there to 'demand the arrangement be stopped' when thirty or forty Tory MPs elected in 2029 peel off to prop up a Miliband - Polansky coalition government?
James Heale@JAHeale

And a Tory source tells me: “As soon as she heard about this, Kemi instantly demanded this arrangement be stopped. The group leader was suspended with immediate effect. Kemi was clear she would not put up with this sort of nonsense.”

@OtterSecret @maraudershields @TrueSlazac Keeping Europe fragmented meant hegemony for Great Britain, since it dominated global trade. There was nothing heroic about making continental nations fight each other for GB's hegemony. Europe would have been better off had Napoleon won. That is historian A. Roberts' thesis.

@01Enzy @maraudershields @TrueSlazac Why? The British position was to stop any nation obtaining hegemony in Europe and in doing so stopping a tyrant subjugation an entire continent, pretty heroic I would say.

@maraudershields @TrueSlazac From his times, I don't think any of what he did could be considered a crime, really. The British governement is considered the main warmonger of this conflict too.
