The Redress of the Past: Historical Pageants in Britain - An AHRC project about 20th C. identity, community, heritage - and dressing up in fancy costumes!

On Tuesday 16th May, we'll be hosting a screening of 'Restaging the Past: The Story of Historical Pageants,' a new film from King's College London and Windrose Rural Media Trust. Includes talks and a Q&A session with the film makers. For more details: eventbrite.com/e/restaging-th…

Huge thanks to all those who supported our fundraising event last night, held in collaboration with @Pageantry_AHRC. Donations amounted to a spectacular £685, which helps to ensure that the Sherborne Museum can continue its important work within the community.

We are pleased to announce that our film 'Restaging the Past: The Story of Historical Pageants' has been premiered. It will appear online in due course. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in hosting a screening, please get in touch. Running time = 37 minutes.

I enjoyed the pageant but was again surprised by the positive reaction to Harry The Spiv - people seemed to enjoy the dodgy dealer - the classic anti-establishment bad boy. I wrote a feature about spivs - their comic versions - but also their dark side: harrymottram.co.uk
