@PublicStorage We just got to our newly rented unit and found someone else’s stuff in the unit (that was empty on inspection last week). No response on the local customer service line. Who do I call for immediate assistance?

@mcuban Thanks for calling attention, Mark. I am shocked this segment has not been upended by smart money and startups. I have through painful experience come to the disheartening conclusion that you get access to timely standard care in the US only through connections or private wealth

The real health insurance scam is that they know as their deductibles go up, fewer people can afford to use their insurance. Which means they don’t have insurance. Despite having to pay premiums. It may sound counter intuitive , but if you can’t afford your deductible, you MIGHT be better off not getting insurance. When you need care, primary, preventive or worse, your doctor or hospital has financing plans. And, their cash price that they finance will be cheaper than what your insurance company or employer negotiated There is still a lot of work to be done before this is easy and convenient. But it’s starting to happen. Now is the time to find a doctor who is willing to work with you directly and let you pay them directly. See what works for you. This isn’t a perfect approach , so All feedback welcome !

Younger coaches & parents won’t believe me! But before someone had the genius idea to form a private for profit league & become a mega millionaire off the backs of 🇺🇸 ⚽️ families & formed a new Super Ultra Mega EliteChampions League for our youth, we had a system that worked & served players of all abilities! All over the 🇺🇸, we had Recreational ⚽️, Advanced ⚽️ & Advanced Travel ⚽️ (travel meant a few hours from home max, 2 overnights max, no out of state travel unless you earned it by winning state & going to regionals) as well as TOPS soccer all fell under one banner We were truly a ⚽️ community often with local senior teams to look up & aspire to! #CollegeSoccer coaches went to state & regional matches as well as a true national championship (The McGuire Cup) and it meant something Coaches recruited High School ⚽️ We had true ⚽️ communities and it worked The ⚽️ community was generally quite happy with the system Now we have this mess Gordon Gekko was wrong Greed is not good!! It ultimately destroys what it touches And some people think our system is better now because our players are better now (which they are) But is faulty logic based on incorrect causal reasoning Players are better because there are millions more of them & we finally have parents & grandparents (like me) who grew up with ⚽️ Understand ⚽️ Many coach ⚽️ In my day parents didn’t even know what a ⚽️ was for or how it worked It was “that foreigners game” We NEVER saw ⚽️ represented in commercials, movies advertising etc Now you cannot escape a single day without coming across some ⚽️ image at least That’s why we’ve gotten better It’s 💯 NOT the privatized for profit leagues I’ll argue we would be miles ahead of where we are if they had never come to fruition Rant over

@Don_K_Williams The challenge for like minded folks (coaches like you and parents like me) is a David versus Goliath analogy. How do we convince parents, and how do we save kids from the misinformed coaches and parents who believe more money spent (or distance traveled) equals better results.

I was a whistleblower in a huge anti-doping ordeal. What I learned is: the vast majority of people ditch their values. It's an easier path. Whatever you think of @Liz_Cheney , I deeply respect her because she has stuck to her values. That is a very HARD & RARE.

This is one of my fav papers. What differentiates super-elite & elite athletes from a psychosocial perspective? Wouldn't it be great to replicate this study in pro-peleton to see if findings were similar i.e. could the themes they identified explain 'unbelievable' performances?

@BStulberg Brad, everything you wrote is grounded in logic and modern cultural beliefs. I try to stay optimistic, and yet the fact that it is a close race and more than 40% of the country (that includes some young educated folks) cannot be made to change their minds is astonishing.

Normal straight young(ish) white guy here, who trains at the gym five days per week, cares too much about his deadlift, and is happy the NFL season is about to start. I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz! Here are just a few of the reasons: • I think democracy is important and worth protecting. • I think billionaires should pay higher taxes. • I think women should be able to choose what to do with unplanned and/or unwanted pregnancies. • I think people should be able to love whomever they choose to love. • I want someone who is not visibly unhinged making national security decisions. • I think we should do everything possible to increase the housing supply so its more affordable. • I don't want my kids thinking the way to become president is by making fun of disabled people or bragging about grabbing women by the pussy! • I think it's important we fund the FBI! • I don't think criminals should be able to run for president within just a year of their conviction. • I think basic decency matters and is important for leaders to role model. • I want someone who will actually try to figure out a humane solution to immigration that also acknowledges we can't take all-comers (instead of keeping the border a mess for political gain). • I don't want to have my health care plan taken away! • I think we need more stringent background checks on gun-purchases (and there is probably no real need for civilians to own automatic weapons, which tend to be used in mass shootings and drastically increase the death toll). These are my positions. Some may be popular and others not. Everyone is welcome to their own! I just think it's important that we lay out clearly why are making the choice that we are making, instead of just going off inertia or vibes or, for males, some performative version of toughness.

And my colleagues often hear me make this unrealistic statement: “each family needs to raise at least one health care provider amongst themselves, just so this individual will protect the rest of them from our system!”

Currently have a family member in the hospital as well as two siblings who are also medical professionals. And among the three of us, we can't even hardly manage the care/can hardly avoid a complete disaster. I have no flipping idea how the general population even tries to navigate decent medical care whatsoever.
