@Wildfyrewarning @politicalmath Town that immediately begins discussing suffrage and how they'll be the first town where women vote. A group she also leaves because they're too stuffy for the hard prairie woman. Maybe these are true things, I'm not positive, but they seem highly unlikely for the time period.

@Wildfyrewarning @politicalmath It's been a very long time since i read any of the books, but the show seems to create situations to justify the writer's point. Such as Pa sparing horse thieves, he might not shoot them on sight but letting them go?? And then Ma attending some kind of respectable ladies club in

@ggreenwald It is perfectly logical to nominate someone who will carry on the vision of the deceased senator, who people voted for. The 17th amendment governs this and there's nothing wrong with it. If the election were 2 years away, you might have a point. But 4 months? Be serious.

So the way to choose who will represent the people of South Carolina in the US Senate is to choose one of Lindsey Graham's siblings in order to "pay tribute" to him? That's not really the reason we have a Senate. Neither party even pretends to care about what voters want. Hey: Lindsey Graham died 6 seconds ago: we picked his obscure, experience-free sister to send to the US Senate and didn't even pretend to hear if you want that!
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

As a South Carolina native, I can think of no more fitting tribute to Lindsey Graham's legacy of service to our state and our nation than seeing his beloved sister carry it forward. Darline has always been at her brother’s side and I know she will be an outstanding interim Senator. The U.S. Treasury will do everything possible to support her and her staff as they work on the President’s agenda and continue to provide strong constituent services for the great people of South Carolina.

@maelstrom313 @ChrisRGun 17th amendment. Literally the law of the land. There is an election in 4 months. It makes perfect sense to temporarily nominate someone who will continue the vision of the deceased senator.

@cafebedouin @Paularbear4 @TheEbonyMaw Some books should be censored from children. Do you think school libraries should stock Maxim or Playboy? As for "who decides", it's parents and the community. If you want your kid to have Playboy, buy it for them, it doesn't need to be in the school library.

@Paularbear4 @TheEbonyMaw They are being censored. Censorship isn't only that books are not available to anyone. Censorship means that they are systematically not available to one group to conform to the preferences of another. Here is a source if you want to get informed. ala.org/bbooks/book-ba…

@inyoureyes1001 @TheEbonyMaw @unvarnishedvoid There are very very few truly banned books in the US. I can get overnight delivery of Mein Kampf right now. But there are some books that no one will print, so they are very hard to get or expensive, which is basically as close to banned as you can get in the US.

@someguy0474 @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition And if it goes through? Once is enough? Because the entire contention is that while it may not be likely the bullet would behave this way, it is entirely possible.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition Oh no, I only need a single shot that retains the projectile. Once is all that's needed, which is why I said, more or less "show me one". If I see it once, I will completely concede my point.

If these queerbaits shooting meat in their backyard had any credibility the defense team would be asking for their data, but none of it is admissible in court because it's not science.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition It's entirely possible, and I've illustrated exactly how to do it. Heck, I may try for it next season just for giggles. Broadside or otherwise not-pointed-to-the cavity/shoulders shot, ±10° from level, 1-5" below the jawline. It's a shot I've seen myself by another hunter.

@someguy0474 @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition If you actually knew what an analogue is, you'd know that they are similar but not identical. This is why we consider ballistic gel and pig meat "flesh analogues". They are meant to be the closest we can get without shooting living things.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition This topic has nothing to do with science and everything to do with the concept of an "analogue". Identifying the key characteristics of an "unknown" and producing something "known" that duplicates or represents them well.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition Likewise, a torso is not a neck. Concrete is overcome by bullets all the time. I can shoot a concrete block and crack it 1000/1000 times. It's not that I'm wrong, or even that you're wrong in the conclusion. It's that your framing is wrong.

@someguy0474 @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition This is because it's impossible to duplicate your shot in a deer because they aren't humans. You've presented an impossible standard so that you never have to worry about someone passing it and threatening your preconceived opinion.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition I never asked for that. I asked for an equivalent shot in an analogue, a deer. No such analogue has been provided. They were all shots that did not remotely duplicate the conditions outside of "bullet entered below head".

@someguy0474 @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition Then you are never going to be happy with the answers. You will never get an identical shot unless you out another human in that chair, lay on that roof, and shoot him in the throat.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition You're free to call me what you want. That doesn't change reality. Your arguments are just as bad as the losers suggesting "his head should have been blown off! Look at this ballistics gel dummy I shot!" All real shots ARE insufficiently identical.

@someguy0474 @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition No it wouldn't be, that's moronic. Concrete is neither meat nor bone, so it would not be evidence of meat and bone stopping a projectile. You're literally just wrong. Bones and meat and blood stop bullets all the time. The human neck is bones and meat and blood.

@Parab3llum @cyr_actual @FenixAmmunition Concrete stopping a bullet is similarly "evidence" but does not prove the claim for the same reason. I never claimed "meat can't stop a bullet". I said "this exact shot should 'always' produce an exit wound". Your evidence does not prove or disprove my claim.

@Parab3llum @someguy0474 @FenixAmmunition Actually there are studies from WWII (admittedly FMJ) and some estimated 10-20% neck shots didn’t pass through. The data is out there people just don’t want to believe it and frankly I’m tired of looking it up for them. There’s nothing that will convince some.
