In a time when citizens’ demands exceed human agents’ capacities in government services, @salesforce's @petercoffee discusses AI availability, accountability, and action-ability - and why the public sector offers a proving ground for AI agents: bit.ly/46fieWB

“It's time to confront and conquer challenges of what it means to be ‘AI literate’; what the consequences will be if we don't democratize that literacy; and what it's going to take to make these things happen in our schools, our workplaces, and our institutions of society.”
diginomica@diginomica

It’s time to talk about “AI literacy”… literally,
says @Salesforce's @petercoffee, as he unpacks the overlooked urgency of AI literacy - and how this may define who gets empowered and who gets left behind in an AI-driven society. bit.ly/4kLA7Bd

“Any invention, wrapped in a system that turns the central nugget of value into a useful, sustainable service, will require human skills and efforts to keep it going. AI is no exception: the AI supply curve will not be ‘flat and free.’” @diginomica diginomica.com/ai-already-rew…

If “personalization at scale” is going to be a compelling promise of AI, then marketplace success will depend on making personalization feel like a relationship with a concierge – not feel like being in the sights of an AI-aimed rifle. ⁦@diginomicadiginomica.com/are-you-ready-…

@diginomica @salesforce There is, I hope I adequately emphasized, an upside here as well. “Personalized pricing can be welcomed, even sought out by customers, when it’s perceived as an upgrade offering and presented in an up-front and transparent way…” It’s a fork in the road, not a downhill slide.

Researchers @Salesforce AI "demonstrate that models trained with our curated datasets, even with only 7B parameters, can achieve state-of-the-art performance…outperforming multiple GPT-4 models; our 1B model achieves performance surpassing GPT-3.5-Turbo and Claude-3 Haiku."
Marc Benioff@Benioff

Meet Salesforce Einstein “Tiny Giant.” Our 1B parameter model xLAM-1B is now the best micro model for function calling, outperforming models 7x its size, including GPT-3.5 & Claude. On-device agentic AI is here. Congrats Salesforce Research! Paper: arxiv.org/pdf/2406.18518 Github: apigen-pipeline.github.io

Professionalism is more than receiving a paid salary, argues @petercoffee of @Salesforce. He asks if it's meaningful to say that a non-human entity must recognize and accept “risk, liability, and responsibility". So, can #AI achieve professional standards? bit.ly/3VirGTz

With the advent of generative AI, and the growing acknowledgment of climate change as an immediate “now” rather than a “maybe someday” challenge, any remaining notions of “back to normal” should be utterly buried, argues @PeterCoffee of @Salesforce --> diginomica.com/why-no-one-sho…

Productivity Loss: On average, the cost to "switch applications" is little over 2 seconds and the average employee toggled between different apps and websites nearly 1,200 times each day. That equals just under 4 hours a week, up to 5 working weeks per year, or 9% of annual time at work reorienting themselves after toggling to a new app. bit.ly/3oqQc7z

“Version control of all the things, baby.” So very true. Absence of a versioning file system, leaving versioning to the whims of individual applications, is the indefensible antiquity of both Windows and macOS.
Alistair Croll@acroll

Debugging code written by an AI when something changes on another system is going to be bonkers. “Here I built an ERP using ChatGPT.” … 2 years later, context window long gone, some partner changes their API, everything stops. Version control of all the things, baby.
