We have looked into the recent reports surrounding Apex Packs not rewarding Heirloom Shards after 500 packs are opened, and identified a bug that affected a very small number of users. This bug only impacted users who had all but 1 Mythic remaining to be unlocked, AND levelled up their Horizon Prestige skin to level 2 or 3 prior to March 17th, 2026. The bug has been resolved and all affected accounts have been sent 150 Heirloom Shards and a Legendary Apex Pack. Accounts at large otherwise are not impacted and the system is working as intended. @th3jmanx I have a feeling they are going to scrap Ranked. If not, they're going to have to refactor it significantly. Most people I play with don't care about it at all.

I'm struggling to see where "Ranked" fits into Marathon. In reality, it's meant to be a mechanism to funnel the games top performing players into an isolated playlist so the remaining population can go about their time in the traditional zones. The problem is ranked does not flow well with the existing design of the maps. In the base maps, players are completing contracts, visiting POIs for specific salvages and tackling events like lockdowns and wardens. In ranked, no one cares about that because giving up your position to complete something like an anomalous sample is way too risky. This creates a stagnated stalemate where everyone wants to play passive until a safe, third party option becomes available. However, the philosophy of pitting together the top players into an "end game" competition is the right call. If I were a designer at Bungie, this is where I would break out of the extraction mold and put together some other type of competitive mode. This could be the "Trials of Osiris" of Marathon, a completely new way to play the game that matches Bungie's history of providing many avenues of excitement. CC: @asalisbury

The more I think about it, the more I believe there should be a Free Weekly Cryo Sponsor Kit. Helps shuffle more people into the map which can take many runs to really learn.

@franmirabella It IS an ugly ass game and it IS difficult to follow on screen and the maps look like slapped together shades and geometry and everything is boldly colored and shiny. I don't know if the art design is an AI generation, poorly themed, rushed, or and afterthought, but it's ugly.

Ninja reminding that some streamers often choose to play stuff for the watchability and viewer counts -- not just a desire to play certain new games. This is why charts and viewer counts are not reviews. All that is often just general interest or popularity. So, if you're interested in new game discussion, reviews, etc., be sure to also get out there and find content creators and reviewers that specialize in that. And you have to remember there are a ton of gamers that only play a few games a year. Which is fine. But it's also why you so often see only a handful of games reach critical mass unlike so many others.

bungie needed to make this ARG start with an optional contract because most extraction shooter players simply do not care and don’t know what the point is. most of them will not look for direction outside of what the game gives them.
