Water pouring straight through the ceiling on the MTA’s LIRR like we’re living in a third-world country—right here in New York. Billions in taxes, endless bailouts, and this is the clown show we get? Commuters are fed up with the incompetence.

@timmintonNY @timmintonNY This is misleading. The timetable says 95 min, not 90, and that's just to the beginning of hamptons (westhampton). Most of the hamptons take closer to 2 hrs or more on the cannonball. Please respond

It’s not summer season until first Cannonball leaves Penn — 90-minutes from NYC to Hamptons

Knicks fans, skip the traffic and let the LIRR run point! Take the railroad to Penn Station, then it’s an easy layup to @TheGarden. Plan your trip with TrainTime, and let’s go @nyknicks! 🏀

@TheLIRRToday Every AM train *since COVID ended* of mine has been a minimum of two minutes late, and often more, of course. The train is never there at the time printed on the schedule.

Classic LIRR trip. Starts out on time at beginning of the journey, gradually loses time until it arrives 5 minutes late. Delays the "express" train behind it.

@TheLIRRToday And of course if I activate my ticket 1 minute after the supposed arrival time, since the train was already 5 minutes late, they will still charge me the fee for late activation

@TheLIRRToday 533 from GC to Huntington agrees and reminds me of the old 8am from Bayside to Penn (think it started at GN), where it would sit across from the shopping plaza in sunnyside for 5 min daily.

As the saying goes, on the LIRR, the local trains stop at all of the stations. The express trains stop *between* all of the stations. No ticket collection east of Jamaica on this train either. @LIRR is back to normal for sure!!

@ClaytonGuse Define “targeted and intelligence led”. If routes see fare evasion, Metropolitan Police respond to those routes. There’s overlay between strategy in London and NYC. What’s depicted in those pictures is a bus stopped for five minutes. Other buses got stopped there too.

This, in my experience, is not how fares are enforced anywhere in Europe. In countries like Germany, agents will check your tickets on trains and buses without stopping service. In Italy, agents will sometimes check you after you pass through the turnstiles.
Derrick Holmes@helplessdelta

Got hit with that “european-style” bus service on the b44 today (5 minutes standing still so everyone can get their pockets run by the cops) Thanks Janno 🫶🫶🥰📈📈

Facts. When the strike ends the customer service and ambassadors we finally see for a change will all disappear again. And the gcm @LIRR schedules don't work. We had almost the same number of on time trains today as a normal day, near zero. @GovKathyHochul @PassengersUnite
sabina@sabinathegreat

The conditions for LIRR workers has gotten exponentially worse since the Grand Central expansion - switching schedules that conductors have had for 30+ years (and presumably moved for), more delays and unreliability causing angrier passengers, etc

@LIRR The LIRR shuttle buses are too small and completely insufficient. Thousands of commuters are struggling because there’s not enough space for everyone

@TheLIRRToday The fact that they got rid of tickets that were good for like 6 months is crazy to me. I can no longer purchase a ticket at one station to use 2 days later at another station. Or buy a RT ticket on Friday go into the city and use the return ticket when I come back on Sunday.

@Aaron_Donovan @katie_honan @aaron_donovan This is no surprise since woodside @LIRR is always forgotten about. With all the personnel at Jamaica this week doing pre strike outreach, there was not one at woodside for us port wash passengers who don't go to Manhattan. And all inquiries to @mta go unanswered

@katie_honan Thank you for noticing this, Katie, and for informing the folks you found. Audio announcements should be playing and the platform screens shown in your photo cycle through messages that include “no trains for the next 8 hours.” Staff are en route to check/add printed posters.

There is a Long Island Rail Road strike but there’s no signage or information here at Woodside, so I’m letting the handful of people here know

@RezaC1 @MTANewsroom Nope they are congestion charging us even during the strike. So much money wasted by @mta and they won't give the relative pennies to their workers to prevent the strike @passengersunite

@MTANewsroom In light of Kathy Hochul and Janno Lieber's inability to properly field a workforce for its commuter rail system, will the disastrous congestion taxation scheme be suspended?
