Murkowski said today that under the SAVE Act, a couple in remote part of Alaska would have to take flight to Anchorage at a cost of $2,000, bring/fund/secure documents, spend a day off work, maybe leave kids at home: ie, a huge burden.
She also strongly opposes objects to immediate effective date so people can’t plan such trips.

I finally did it, I picked up the backpack of someone taking up two seats on a standing room only train, handed it to them and said “you can hold this so someone can sit, thank you.” A woman immediately sat. I will absolutely keep doing this

This isn’t bad planning. This is the worst planning in the history of human civilization. And I include in that list the man who designed the Titanic’s lifeboat capacity, the general who ordered the Charge of the Light Brigade, and whoever greenlit the Ford Edsel.
Napoleon, for all his faults, was aware that Russia had a winter. Hitler, deranged as he was, knew Stalingrad existed. Bush at least had a map with Baghdad on it.
Trump, apparently, had not considered that Iran might hit back. 99.99% of the world’s population saw this coming. Analysts. Journalists. Retired geography teachers. Teenagers eating cereal at midnight. My neighbor’s dog, probably. Every single one of them. Except the man who started the war and FoxNews.

McCaffrey was a division commander in the first Gulf War; his forces executed the "left hook." Berating him for commanding forces in the field makes no sense. Bush was going to launch that war no matter what anyone thought of it, so I'm not sure what this is about.

Well, General, you have been collecting your big fat pension for 30 years after retiring from your role in the idiotic first Gulf War in behalf of the right of the Emir of Kuwait to directional drill into Saddam's oil field or some such nonsense that made not a tinker's damn of difference in the scheme of history.
