Narendra Singh Chahar, a deputy station superintendent at Agra Cantt railway station was dragged and taken away by RPF personnel following a dispute. According to reports, Chahar signalled a train to halt after a woman almost injured herself while boarding the train. An RPF constable arrived accusing the woman's family of chain pulling. Over a week after a 55 year old Aslam Shaikh from Khairani road at Saki Naka fell into an open manhole and died while he was speaking on the phone, BMC told it’s house of corporators on Saturday that it can never claim that every manhole chamber in the city is fitted with a protective safety net, describing it as a continuous process. Replying to a discussion on the recent monsoon-related incidents in the civic house, the administration said the civic body had installed safety nets on all identified manholes. However, new chambers are regularly created during road and utility works, while some existing nets are stolen or go missing. "We can never say that there isn't a single manhole chamber left without a safety net because this is a continuous process. Three UN-appointed Special Rapporteurs have written to the Centre expressing concerns over alleged discrimination against minorities during the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, particularly in West Bengal, and have sought details of the steps taken to ensure the process complies with India’s international human rights obligations. The experts raised concerns over the reported deletion of voter names, the alleged disproportionate impact on Muslim and Bengali electors, and the use of statements by political leaders that they said could reinforce discriminatory rhetoric. They also sought information on measures to ensure that eligible voters are not prevented from participating in elections. The Election Commission’s SIR exercise, which was upheld by the Supreme Court, was aimed at ensuring accurate and reliable electoral rolls. BMC has set a March 2027 deadline for completing the 337 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Ghatkopar and directed officials to deploy additional manpower and speed up construction to meet the target. The Ghatkopar STP, being developed under the Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project, will have the capacity to treat 337 million litres of sewage a day (MLD) using Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology. Of the total sewage treated, 170 MLD will undergo tertiary treatment before being discharged, thereby improving the quality of wastewater entering the sea.

#LifeLesson #69 The greatest kindnesses are when the recipient does not even realize that the other person is being kind. Maybe that should be the gold standard for kindnesses. Two series of incidents stand out from my own life. I did not have many friends from age 4 to 10, partly because I was way younger than my classmates. And I used to tag along with my brothers everywhere - when they went to friends' homes or out to play or whatever and they never made me feel unwelcome. It was only after I was an adult I realised that most elder siblings do not like young kids tagging along and it was an act of unusual kindness. At IIMA, my closest friend Sarada was the eldest when I was the youngest (when you are 19, being 25 and married appears impossible mature). Her husband used to come down every other weekend or so from Bombay and we on the floor never thought about that he is making this effort to spend time with his wife. For us it was general celebration time that Jagan has come let's ask to him to treat us to icecream, hang out with him or something like that. Looking back it was as if he had got 5 saalis for free. Again never made us feel like pesky intruders (which we very much were) or unwelcome. Today as I attended Sarada and Jagan's daughter's wedding I thought about how much Jagan's persuasion worked even more than Sarda's 😍 So glad I could make it and I think the happiness shows.
