@Hakkeyoi_Sumo But you're counting stats from his whole Ozeki stint. From early last basho, I thought it looked clear that he'd found a new level. He'll hopefully not have as many losses per basho going forward and he certainly won't have 100% of his losses come from maegashira like this basho.

What really gives me a stomach ache about Hoshoryu and a Yokozuna promotion at this point is: In 9 basho as an Ōzeki, 25 of his losses came from Maegashira. That's a 2,8 losses per basho average. A Yokozuna cannot afford 3 Kinboshi per basho. I hope he can turn that off.

@SumoKaboom Wait, I lied. When I looked a few days ago, I expected Onosato to be at 8 by now, not lose 2 straight. Gonna need both guys then.

@GSumoBreakdown The era of the 12-3 yusho is over thanks to Onosato developing Yokozuna-level sumo last basho, but Takerufuji is the story of Kyushu and bests him again. Takayasu and Onokatsu go for double digit wins. Wakatakakage doesn't. Shishi's good form and beginner's luck carry him to 9-6.

@GSumoBreakdown Takayasu does great and tricks some into believing again, but Onosato takes the cup. Takerufuji stomps Juryo. Saying Takakeisho won't get 10 is weaksauce; he gets 6 wins at best.

@HardRockBet The math ain't mathin'. I can't actually bet SGPs because your software tries to overpay on them and I don't want trouble. Fix this before you have to fight thousands of your customers over your own mistakes. The bigger the underdog, the greater the resulting error.

@HardRockBetHelp If I try to bet Howard ML (NCAAF) +2500 and parlay it with a total at -110, why is the app offering to pay me +250000? Adding a -110 bet to the parlay should almost double the winnings, not 100x them. Something like this is happening on every game I've looked at.

@GSumoBreakdown @tachiai_blog Your stated tiebreaker rules don't consider where the tie occurs. The slot being contested can change the rules. You understand that a 6-9 rikishi won't win a TB if it requires them to be promoted. They've also always lost the TB to a falling rikishi if it would mean no demotion.

@tachiai_blog I wish I could explain it.🤣 Well I can actually. If you accept that there is an anti-Juryo bias when considering a Makuuchi rikishi or a Juryo rikishi for a rank, then, by the math and typical tie breaker rules, Nishikifuji deserved to be ranked there. But it's still very dumb.

@GSumoBreakdown @sumo_tim A bit of a late start to his pro career, but if he doesn't get 20, he'll be close. Onosato already seems like the favorite in every basho for the next decade.

@sumo_tim I said it halfway through the basho. This is the first of a 20 Yusho reign for Onosato. I wasn't completely serious, but I'm not completely joking either.

@GSumoBreakdown You know, I was gonna say Takayasu choked it away to Kiribayama but I didn't want to be that specific. Regardless, Takayasu faded too early and Shodai managed not to suck for an entire basho. Now I don't even think he'll suck next time.

@GSumoBreakdown No promotion for Takakeisho. Takayasu chokes his way to a jun-yusho. Shodai still sucks. Kagayaki does nothing of note. I post less pessimistic predictions next basho.

@Frittenpate @MigClass Unfortunately, this went down as an Izori in the record books. But I'm not actually correcting you, because this was 100% a tsutaezori that was mislabeled by the one deciding the kimarite.

@Terunoumi89 @sumo_tim @Hakkeyoi_Sumo My first draft for M8-M9 was Takarafuji/Tochinoshin - Aoiyama/Takanosho, so it made sense to me. Isegahama bias was not a part of that thought process. Underdemoting 5-10s happens more often than not. Overpromoting Takanosho instead was possible, but not necessary.

@sumo_tim @Hakkeyoi_Sumo True, I also predicted Takarafuji ending up lower (although I'm certainly no expert). But can Isegahama really influence the banzuke according to his will, without remarks from other oyakata?

Takarafuji ahead of Takanosho and Tochinoshin really is an unexplainable move from the Banzuke committee. Is it time for Isegahama to go? The general weirdness each tournament is one thing, favouring guys from your own stable for no reason is borderline corruption.
