Worthy of mention is the fact that the FG is re considering bringing back the Tax Amnesty scheme. This is a scheme in which Nigerians are encouraged to regularize their taxation by voluntarily paying outstanding bills ( maybe at a discounted amount) to avoid prosecution and also earn some benefits. The last time a tax amnesty scheme was launched was in 2017 for 9 months with projected revenue of $1 billion. It won’t be bad if we can encourage voluntary payment of backdated taxes from Nigerians and generate over N1 trillion.
