@AndyRit54644344 It was even better- a 153 😊. The commentator got mixed up and said he was going to make a 152. You are spot on calling him a magician. As you were too 👍

Do enjoy my threads on here, so I'm going to inititate another one for whenever I stumble upon (what I believe to be) a snooker-related doppelgänger 🪞 Will kick things off with Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block whom I think looks a bit like Mark Selby. (Will try and keep these as flattering as possible. Standard of look-alike subject to vary 😅)

On this day 17 March 1979 St Mirren 3-1 Morton Att 9,118 Goals from Frank McGarvey (2) & Jimmy Bone won the points Andy Ritchie got Morton’s goal direct from a corner kick! This left Saints second in the table, two points behind leaders Dundee Utd with a game in hand

@TomHosie @dadbegg Spot on, Tom. It’s poor they can’t cover at least one match in League One and one in League Two with reporters at the grounds

@dadbegg Not really Footballsound these days either. Just Premiership. No lower league round-up at all. Scores maybe once. But we do get fans phoning in and people's choice of music. A really, really bad programme certainly post match.

Just come across an audio tape of a Sportsound programme from October 1994. What a good edition it was, & with reports on all sports - football, rugby, golf and racing in a 10 minute spell around 5.00 pm it truly was SPORTSound and not FootballSound.

@dadbegg I hate how Sportsound doesn’t have a reporter at least one League One and League Two match. There’s a lot of important matches each week and it would help promote the game.

@Nick_Metcalfe And that is why it’s imperative the Six Nations isn’t behind a paywall. What an advert for Rugby this Six Nations has been. Incredible end to the tournament.

@Stephen4_2 The first two were by Jimmy Gourlay for Morton in 1922 and Jimmy Whyte, again for Morton in 1948. It’s a sobering thought that I’ll probably never see Morton in the Scottish Cup final .

Morrissey has canceled his concert in Valencia, Spain scheduled for Thursday night due to a poor night's sleep caused by a noisy hotel he was staying at. A statement announcing the show's cancelation said that "the experience has left Morrissey in a catatonic state." Morrissey himself added that "it will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement."

All round terrible list. Law is top three minimum. Peter Lorimer missing too, McTominay should be way ahead of the likes of Tierney and Ferguson. No one from the 50s either - likes of Lawrie Reilly come to mind
Lisbon Lion@tirnaog_09

I know these lists are usually a bit or click bait but this one is particularly poor. I mean come on, not a single Lisbon Lion & Alan Hutton gets in, no Jim Baxter or Jimmy McGrory or either. I think somebody about 15 made this one up.

@stusfootyflash Watching the Olympics, the guy who interviewed the British Ice Dancers ahead of the games could do worse than study Tony. The difference is night and day in terms of gravitas and professionalism.

On this day in 2013, the great Tony Gubba passed away. Here’s the Football Focus tribute to him shortly after his death, beautifully narrated by his long time friend and colleague, Gerald Sinstadt. Gubba was such a brilliant commentator and broadcaster.
