Oof this @TheStreet tax guide is getting worse and worse…first the only options you have are Tax Preparers and CPAs…guess the Street doesn’t know EAs are a thing #taxtwitter? And then the average 1040 fee and state is $176? Seriously? Geez I hope people don’t actually buy this thing looking for good information.

Picked up a copy of @TheStreet ‘s “2026 Tax Guide” while at the supermarket today…6 pages in and they got the tax brackets wrong. MFJ and MFS are swapped 🤦🏻

Just learned that our Tax Twitter friend, Megan Tarnow, lost her husband without warning while she was traveling home from Connect. I'm planning on sending her flowers and a gift card for food delivery. If you would like to contribute, venmo me: Logan_Graf If something is already arranged, please let me know and I'll redirect.

Truth hurts sometimes…saying CPAs have better brand recognition is not saying EAs, Atty, etc. aren’t good at what they do or that any one of them is better than the other, just that society easily recognizes what a CPA is (or at least what they think a CPA is) but if you ask a random person what an EA is chances are they say executive assistant over enrolled agent.

Josh is upset because I said CPAs have better brand recognition than EAs.

@LoZabransky @ajthecpa1226 @shawngorham Don’t even get me started on those silly financial advisors that just yank 1% of your portfolio every month whether they did any work for you or not…but the average Joe doesn’t look at the “fees” section of their 1099

My CPA (of 15 years) changed his system this year where you pay his fee BEFORE you can see the return. I got into it with him that it was a shit business practice. He argued his work was done (plus edits) when he entered the data into the return and sent it to me, therefore due payment I argued money should be due when the return is filed (in the past he always billed net 30) His business, his choice, but feels like a good time to vote with my dollars. What do you think?

@FSteinCPA @cordes_tax I don’t know about the political affiliations but I’ll say taxes are the one thing where people could be known to be the most straight edge kind of person but then it all goes out the window cause well screw the government I guess 🤷‍♂️

I saw a post by @cordes_tax discussing liberal vs conservative tax preparers. Got me thinking. #TaxTwitter and tax people only please. Which groups tend to want to "play fast and loose" with the tax code? In other words, cheat on their taxes

@FSteinCPA @FortWayneCPA Is there a typo here or something? How is making the targeting of those exercising free speech illegal going to lead to a dictatorship? If anything that sounds like the opposite of a dictatorship as dictators are not very keen on free speech…

@FortWayneCPA It is simply another tool they ar using to make targeting Americans exercising their free speech rights illegal. They're slow walking us into a dictatorship and the right wingers are openly welcoming this. And yes, I read it.

Please only comment on this post if you take the time to read the White House Memo: "NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM/NSPM-7" After reading it, please tell us what you think. I just read it and I am going to read it again. Please read it. I was not expecting something like this and try to imagine how you would have responded if President Obama, Biden, or Bush did this. Think outside of your tribe... I am not going to comment until I read it at least once more and read the actual FBI and non partisan crime statistics a second time. whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

If you use Drake, there is a bug with the new update that prevents filing when Land as a nondepreciable asset doesn't have a life. If you put 27.5 (or maybe any number) it will file and not create any depreciation. Hopefully it just gets fixed soon.

My wife and I got married during COVID…in hindsight the lockdowns were great for us financially. We went from a wedding that would have cost about $50k down to a backyard wedding at my in laws house with a food truck and just the immediate family and wedding party. Everybody had a fantastic time and we saved a ton of money.

My wife's cousin and his fiancé visited us earlier today. He's 26, she's 25, and they shared their weddings plans with us. Big guest count, expensive venue. I started to wonder how they can afford it, so I asked what it will cost: $100k. I was shocked. I am not yet sure if

If you win the $1.8 BILLION Powerball lottery, are you taking cash or annuity? Annuity: $60M for 30 years Cash: $826M Personally, I would take the cash. But for most people, taking the annuity would prevent them from blowing it all on useless things in 1 year.

@cbriancpa Highly doubt the IRS actually does this unless they’re already looking into the person. There’s so much terrible tax advice posted on social media that if they actually did this there would be a lot more audits going around

You're telling me the first year I take on a passthrough entity tax credit project, they make a law that expands the SALT limit? What other tax projects should I take on so Congress can evaporate it?
