A huge, record-breaking (for March) area of high pressure is currently situated over the SW US and can easily be seen via the water vapor satellite imagery below. It is so large that it is moving moisture all the way from Hawaii up and over it into the central US and down into Texas/Mexico. This plume of moisture is the pineapple express type atmospheric river currently sitting over SW British Columbia and NW Washington.
