@AnthonyL80 @CrossCountryUK Hi, funding for rolling stock is decided by the Government (via the DfT). LNER is prioritised because they serve London. XC have put in a request for more trains but this awaits a Government decision

@CrossCountryUK That's odd. Other services like LNER don't seem to have this issue

@CrossCountryUK hi, why are there only 3 standard carriages for the 13.27 Wakefield to Birmingham? No seats and people stood between carriages. You're the only service where I see this on a regular basis, it's awful!

@TSDLiveries @CrossCountryUK Hi, trains aren’t oversold. The UK operates a walk up railway, meaning you can buy flexible tickets valid on any train. Combined with season ticket holders, this makes crowding difficult to predict and control.

... here we are again. 10 carriage train and only standing room again. @CrossCountryUK how can you be over selling tickets for trains to a point where it surely becomes a health and safety issue?! This time i only made it as far as the vestibule. #healthandsafety #britishrail

@SW_Help @GWRHelp Who do I direct my complaint to then - it’s absolutely nuts to hold up a passenger service that long for this. I’m fed up of having to run like Usain Bolt to make my bus purely because of what is seen by your side as “trivial” disruption

Are you F-ing serious @SW_Help my train is being delayed ON PURPOSE so a 15min late empty train can overtake us? Some of us have work to get to and don’t get paid for the time you delay us by!!! It’s unbelievable @swtrains_watch

@RailTruthUK @GWRHelp @thetrainline I know I can, but my local station has one platform and one provider, GWR. If I use a third party retailer, I get charged extra fees for the sake of it. Why should I incur extra costs because GWR can't send proper emails?

So @GWRHelp's only option for their broken system currently is to go elsewhere. Thus having to pay extra because other retailers charge extra fees to exist such as @thetrainline This is NOT Julia's fault, I get she's limited with what she can do. But still...

@HughJames88 @GWRHelp Hi, fares are set by the Department for Transport, who also receive the revenue generated by ticket sales. GWR is at fault for short forming the train, but they don’t decide how much to charge you or get the money from your ticket

@GWRHelp half train half price? All too often you decide to put on half a train back from London to the West Country. Most expensive line pound for mile. Standing ticket for the price you charge is a disgrace. What are you doing about it?

@AC35301 @EastMidRailway @Richarmphotos Hi, tickets for a specific train (Advance) are only sold until 70% of seats are reserved (varies by TOC) after that the train is “sold out”. However, flexible tickets allowing travel on any service mean people can still choose to board regardless of how many seats are available

@EastMidRailway @Richarmphotos EMR are greedy, that's why. They will sell as many seats as they possibly can for as much as they can regardless of the amount of seats on the train. All revenue, no concern for the safety of passengers. Why should any passenger have to stand for long periods on a high speed train?

Hi @EastMidRailway can you please explain why I can't book a ticket between 12pm and 17.26 on Sunday for the following journey and secondly, why on your website there is a 50.00 difference between what you're charging and what Trainline are charging.

@EastMidRailway Your Luton connect service is shockingly awful. Did you turn up at a Used Train lot, a just pick the Trains they were throwing away? Only half W.Cs work on your Trains. Imagine, having to ask your conductors which toilets are working. Do better.

@Tom_Issitt @EastMidRailway Hi, fares are already set by the Department for Transport and the number of trains and carriages available to EMR is determined by a contract managed by the Government. Unfortunately it’s unlikely much will change when the DfT fully take over

@EastMidRailway useless again. 7:37 (late) from KET to STP. £900 a month to sit on a luggage rack. The quicker you get the boot the better, disgrace.

@mitchell_hurd @CrossCountryUK I agree. It’s been 6 years since Covid and they’ve still not fully reverted back to a pre covid half hourly service between BHM - RDG Bristol going back to half hourly, no problem. But BHM to Reading gets neglected. It’s been like this since 2023 with reduced services

@CrossCountryUK Good morning, hope you're ok this morning! Sorry to bother you - when will the Birmingham to Reading section go back to being 2tph in the busier day time at least? I understand a refurbished Voyager operated the 14:28 from Birmingham to Newcastle and 18:33...

@davidnicol @CrossCountryUK @transportgovuk In a sense yes, but also the fact that the DfT contract doesn’t currently allow them to have enough spare units to strengthen services that are short formed due to faults or unit displacements following disruption

@RailTruthUK @CrossCountryUK @transportgovuk But they have had enough carriages to put 8 cars on this service on many many occasions before - but not today. So, this is down to their management of the rolling stock they have available

@davidnicol @CrossCountryUK @transportgovuk You’re correct that the DfT doesn’t micromanage which units operate which diagrams. But if a service is short formed, XC don’t have spare units around for this scenario. The Government allocate them enough trains to run the service they are required to in their contract

@RailTruthUK @CrossCountryUK @transportgovuk But that doesn't explain why they have run 8 carriage trains on that same departure out of Edinburgh before. You are not trying to tell me that @transportgovuk micro manages the schedules so that it tells each operator how many many carriages to put on for each & every departure

@davidnicol @CrossCountryUK Hi, no it isn’t their responsibility I’m afraid. The @transportgovuk are responsible for deciding how many trains an operator has access to and how many coaches each train has. CrossCountry have made a request for a further 8x 5-car trains, it awaits Government approval

@CrossCountryUK Isn't it your job as a train operator to make sure that you have enough carriages, rather than a wishy washy excuse that there were not enough available. Have been 8 carriages on that service on previous occasions - only 4 on Friday. And it gets crowded with 8

@robottosan @EastMidRailway If your complaint is about overcrowding, write to your local MP and ask them why the Department for Transport aren’t leasing more trains to EMR as they already struggle with capacity without the ECML closures
