@DaleDykes5 @jonbrooks It is to a degree but that doesn’t help with prices. Lived here my entire life and it just has gotten more expensive in relative and actual terms. A big part of that is from houses being overvalued during COVID and sellers refuse to come back to earth.

@florida_grand The problem with the article is that Tampa has already done all those things. 5 Super bowls, massive concerts, NHL All star, CFB championship. So while the stadium would set a higher bar, we don’t NEED it.

Tampa, and the people who live in the Tampa Bay area, either want to be a kinda serious pro town on the same level as San Antonio and Memphis or they want to be an elite professional city on the same level as Philadelphia and Dallas. It’s beginning to sound pathetic all the people whining about Hillsborough County not being able to afford a stadium nor should it even consider it.

Do you know why I enlisted in the Jihad? The old eyes stared hard at Scytale. I heard there was a thing called a sea. It is very hard to believe in a sea when you have lived only here among our dunes. We have no seas. Men of Dune had never known a sea. We had our windtraps. We collected water for the great change Liet-Kynes promised us … this great change Muad’dib is bringing with a wave of his hand. I could imagine a qanat, water flowing across the land in a canal. From this, my mind could picture a river. But a sea? [...] It was too much for my mind to picture. Yet, men I knew said they had seen this marvel. I thought they lied, but I had to know for myself. It was for this reason that I enlisted.” - Dune Messiah (Artwork by Matt Griffin (@mattgriffinart)

@AuthorJ_Fowler @MiddleearthMixr The problem is Paul did not see the Golden Path fully. COD explicitly says so. He knew something had to be done, and that he would lose his humanity to do so, but he did not know the extent. Paul also argues against stagnation while Leto II is for it.

I’m so glad people are calling this out. I knew about Herbert’s philosophy when writing the Dune series before I read a single book. When I finally read the books, I was struck by how justified, within the rules and mythology of the universe, Paul was in his actions, and how so much of it was Paul doing what was necessary to survive and ultimately save their universe. It’s the same with Leto II. Everything good and bad deed he did, he did out of a genuine desire to save humanity from itself, and to prevent humanity’s destruction at some far point in the future that only he could see.

Here’s the problem with what Herbert was trying to do “Paul is a cautionary tale. But also, Paul didn’t go far enough. Leto II in his technocratic wisdom was able to be the Dark Knight humanity needed but also, he was bad too.”

@hasbullahsahero @OtitoNosike Problem is we don’t know the details. It could’ve been “you dont get a portion of pre-marriage money. Any new contract/income post marriage will be up for negotiations.” Pre-nups are very often not all or nothing. Heck you could sign a pre-nup for a car.

@OtitoNosike Eh the clauses can be scary sometimes, he could have a rough lawyer, who knows. Definitely sensitive because you want to protect yourself as well with your 2 kids. Do you want to live in an apartment if they get a divorce and Dak has a 50m house? That isn’t fair either.

This thing is quite hilarious when you think about it. You claim to love a person, yes? That person signs a multi-million-dollar contract and, having seen what has happened to others before him, decides to protect himself by initiating a prenup agreement. You say you love him. You want forever with him. Most importantly, you insist you are not after his money. So why not simply sign the agreement? But you refuse. And in that refusal the truth reveals itself. It was never really him you loved; it was what being with him provided, and what it promised to continue providing.

@shipwreckedcrew @BadLegalTakes Not a lawyer. Question, if the client is actively trying to get the lawyer to commit a crime on their behalf, wouldn't that not be privileged? I get it's as easy proposing it as a hypothetical, but that exception exists?

Hey @BadLegalTakes The privilege belongs to the client. The lawyer can't waive the privilege to the FBI ahead of the call by agreeing to have it recorded and thereby break the privilege. When the client is talking one-on-one to the lawyer, the CLIENT expects the call to be privileged. If you are a lawyer -- I'm guessing you are not -- no one should hire you.
Mike Adams@Mike_Adams_OG

@EWErickson You’re acting like any call with a lawyer is automatically privileged. It’s not. Privilege only protects confidential legal advice...and if the attorney knowingly consents to recording, it’s not confidential. That’s black-letter law, not a disbarment offense.

Byron Donalds' entire campaign is based on his "endorsements" from other swamp politicians. Do you know who hasn't endorsed Donalds? Florida's current superstar conservative governor, Ron DeSantis. That's all we need to know. Everything else is noise.

‘TRUMP’S PICK’: President Trump doubles down on @ByronDonalds for Florida governor: “Byron will be a great governor!!!” With Trump’s full endorsement, massive fundraising, and support from Elon Musk, Charlie Kirk, Sen. Rick Scott, most Florida sheriffs, U.S. House leadership and 75% of the Florida House GOP caucus, Donalds remains the clear frontrunner to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis. flvoicenews.com/trump-byron-do…

My old school sorority girl hot take that no one asked for: Until society can understand the psychological benefits of hazing, we’re going to keep producing weak infantilized adults. Humans crave rites of passage. The point of hazing is to mark a transition, to build trust, test commitment, forge strong bonds, etc, etc. Everything you experience has been experienced by those who came before you, and every experience is meant to instill a deeper lesson. (even if it looks or feels retarded in the moment or to an outsider.) Your belonging within the group is earned, because you can only truly value what has cost you something. This shared vulnerability accelerates bonding, a few weeks of collective stress creates more cohesion than years of casual socializing, and it's a beautiful thing when done correctly. It weeds out the psychologically weak, and this is GOOD because it is MEANT to be exclusionary. TLDR: Hazing can be amazing and these dudes (probably) did nothing wrong. I stand with Alpha Delta Phi!
Tim Jones@TimothyJones92

The footage from the Iowa Alpha Delta Phi hazing discovery is WILD. A fire alarm went off, police arrived and discovered pledges in the dirty basement blindfolded and shirtless. The two guys initially talking to police did not help the fraternity's case

@mikitaposts They didn’t build anything. The company simply used existing non high speed rails and made a few stations. They didn’t have to build the most expensive part, which is new bridges and tunnels and existing infrastructure bypassing.

It’s funny how Ron DeSantis’ Florida was able to actually build a functional (almost) high speed rail network connecting major Florida cities in only 6 years. Meanwhile, progressives ejaculate over “trains!!!” while kneecapping every effort to actually build them.

Today, Los Angeles and the Bay Area will see 130 flights in both directions, equivalent to a plane departing every 6.5 minutes for 18 hours a day. You might not like it’s implementation but to say California doesn’t merit high speed rail is just laughable imo.

@QuasLacrimas 100%. It was cheaper for us to get married in Italy including food/drink/DJ/a villa that slept all 28 of our guests than the food/drink estimate stateside due to the amount of people we would’ve “had” to invited

In the experience of everyone close enough to me that I was privy to their wedding plans, weddings get fantastically expensive because the parents of the bride and groom each have extensive guest lists of people who absolutely must be invited on pain of giving grave permanent offense, and then once you have these relatives and family friends flying in from around the country you can’t exactly serve them homemade tunafish sandwiches. Plus there is cost disease, simple stuff like catering is more expensive now than it was 40 years ago even when you’re not being gouged
FischerKing@FischerKing64

There is also an ironic cultural undercurrent here. As marriage has become less valued, less sacred (not exactly "till death do us part") more emphasis has been placed on the spectacle of the wedding itself. Probably because people know in their gut it might not last.

Yesterday was very revealing in terms of how many think. Euros & Canadians ignore the troops, believing their world is a natural result of international law. Troops are an abstraction for coastal urbanites. The Heartland supports the troops because "we" are the troops. 1/
