The previous government of Tamil Nadu ( DMK ) had been in active negotiations with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for over three years to anchor the AMCA project in Hosur. The State proposed integration of the AMCA complex with the upcoming Hosur domestic airport, split seamlessly between a defense testing facility on one side and a passenger terminal on the other. Hosur is located roughly 40 km from the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) headquarters in Bengaluru—the nodal body designing the 5th-generation stealth fighter. Officials noted this would have allowed superior logistical and airspace integration. officials close to the developments indicate that political considerations and aggressive regional bidding tipped the scales. The loss of the AMCA facility is seen as a setback for the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor, which had hoped to use the stealth fighter program to establish Hosur as a premier national aerospace hub. Such setbacks reflect poorly on the State. Therefore, Makkal Needhi Maiam urges Tamil Nadu government to safeguard against any inequitable treatment from the Union government while establishing a rigorous mechanism to track and execute all proposed projects. We strongly urge the Union Government to not ignore Tamilnadu for its resistance to BJP and it's biased policies preventing our development, growth and progress of stare. We stand united in voicing out our concerns that all states should be equally benefitted.
