"We are moving beyond the evolution of digital technology into a period of rapid, disruptive innovation. This surge demands heightened vigilance in how we work, the tools we deploy, and the ways we transact. While traditional rights violations persist, we now face a new frontier where machines—acting as trackers and enablers—can suppress rights by pushing performance at the expense of human will. As digital ignorance leads to further exploitation, awareness is our best defense. Alongside @Rdpuganda24 and with the support from @cipesaug, we concluded an impactful week in Hoima City . We engaged stakeholders from Petroleum Authority of Uganda , Labour Externalisation and Civil society on the intersection of Business and Human Rights, specifically focusing on training employees to navigate and defend their digital rights and Highlighting emerging issues around workers rights, mechanisms to handle and how this has been effected. Digital literacy is no longer optional; it is the essential path forward." More digital literacy should be emphasised across institutions and communities @UCC_ED @UCC_Official @MoICT_Ug @azawedde @centre4policy @TheJNLC @SafePathMothers @DefendingUNDROP @PM_AKELLO @ChemongesTim @PAMOJA_ED @Mpunge_Micheal @RobertJTurykira @BRKirenga @Bobkule3B @Robertseries1

When employers and workers understand their rights and responsibilities, real change happens. Systems become more accountable, and human rights are respected across entire value chains, from agriculture and mining to digital technology. Through the Business and Human Rights Project, @EnabelinUganda, @Mglsd_UG, and partners, @RRightsAfrica, @ISERUganda, @cipesaug, @ACEMP_UG, @EOC_UG, and @UHRC_UGANDA are turning awareness into action. By engaging business entities and workers, we’re working towards ensuring that respect for human rights in business is an everyday reality. #EnablingChange

The Learning and Reflection Bootcamp on Digital Rights concluded yesterday with a renewed commitment from partners to advance the Business and Human Rights (BHR) agenda within Uganda’s digital landscape. Over two days, civil society organisations, SMEs, and businesses came together to exchange months of lessons learned, reflect on progress, and identify practical ways to strengthen their impact. Beyond reflection, the bootcamp focused on building long-term sustainability. Sessions on financial literacy and resilience encouraged partners to think beyond seed funding and adopt strategies that ensure continuity and growth. Participants were also supported to integrate a Digital Rights Toolkit into their business models, strengthening cybersecurity practices and enhancing user privacy. The bootcamp concluded with the development of a collaborative roadmap, outlining clear strategies for both CSOs and businesses to champion digital safety, particularly for women and children, while embedding human rights at the core of digital innovation. #BeeraSharp @EnabelinUganda
