@souljagoyteller I’m just gonna talk HBO because it’s all I got, and as Band of brothers and Chernobyl were named, I’d advise checking out scenes of a marriage.

@souljagoyteller It’s a good tv show. Its pitfall is that the characters aren’t particularly/uniquely compelling.

@HBendaas One issue with the Joe manchin shit is there are not many people like him. Few people don’t think climate change is fake or not that important to necessitate decarbonization and caucus with the Democratic Party for instance. It’s matt and the few breakthroughs ints people.

@ettingermentum I don’t do Reddit so I imagine I’m missing stuff. It’s such a good show I’ve so curious how they could be so intensely angry about the show.

@moetkacik This was written In 2020 and reflects the views of most of the Democratic staff (agreed it’s not good). It would be good if he expressed his current views because many peoples’ views within the party may be in the process of changing?

@zenahitz As a person who has a stable job that lets me research and pays well but thinks about getting a PhD, this isn’t reassuring. If the old model is dying, and all I get are the 5-6 years of important research but tenuous prospects afterwards, the leap just seems fanciful.

Absolutely. There are no more set career tracks in academia, except for the elites of the elite. What we need are young people willing to lay their own track.

@dhaaruni Guy is running against war, supporting countries that commit atrocities, and further funds for secret police. He also seems to be for funding healthcare and the social safety net. That seems popular in general regardless of gender no (which is why he’s schlacking mills)?

@mattdj00 @judithslutler69 No it’s not, Judy is right. This is also why reading books is bad because “you’re just being told what to think” but textually.

@daveweigel Sure but the point of the compact is that only the popular vote would matter. So an analyst wouldn’t really care about the electoral college results because politicians would be incentivized to win popular rather than electoral votes

HUGE: J Street now backs blocking all aid to Israel, including for “defensive” weapons like iron dome. Just weeks ago this was a controversial position for Democrats, now J Street is backing it. A few years ago a Democrat could get censured for holding this position. @AOC moving on this moved the field.

The interesting thing about Hanania is that he has never really given up his fascism, but merely decided (quite reasonably) that fascist goals are better achieved via mainstream liberalism than by the populist right. And he's gained an audience among liberals for this tactical shift.
Richard Hanania@RichardHanania

I naturally have fascist instincts, but I can't be a fascist because I am too smart and intellectually honest. Aesthetically, I love hierarchy, tradition, etc. But every non-liberal thinker is embarrassingly bad. There's no honest alternative.

@isaiah_bb OP is insinuating something that isn’t there. The economist in question is saying that companies are frequently treating water soil and oxygen as a disposable free good they can use as they see fit. This overconsumption is bad per the speaker and overconsumption must be countered
