@rjwood48 @shivmalik I bought my first house aged 25 in 1995. It was a 2 bed semi for £45k. I earned £13k pa. When I sold it 6 years later it sold for £110k! At the time I blamed estate agents, I still do.

@shivmalik Prices have gone up 10x since 1970. Wages have gone up 10x since 1970. The difference is we saved our money for a large downpayment instead of eating out multiple times a week, driving expensive cars, travel and recreation etc. it’s about priorities not about having less money.

Dear boomers, can you afford to buy the house you live in currently with the wage you used to earn before you retired? If you can’t, then that’s the whole housing problem in a nutshell. It really is that simple to understand.

Reform would make an emergency cut in VAT at the pumps + scrap Reeves’s fuel duty hike. Together that’d save you 18p and 20p a litre on petrol and diesel. Labour are doing nothing…

I am becoming increasingly more tired and very concerned about the relentless hatred towards Keir Starmer since his first day in power. The BBC, all Murdoch channels and of course GBN news. We had 14 years of Tory incompetence and corruption but nothing like this. Appalling.
