It challenges my libertarian world view when I realize these authoritarian states are so much better run than most poorly run democracies. And it seems like there's only one well run democracy and that's Switzerland. Quite poor evidence for democracy when only one tiny little country can make it work really well.

@SimonHoiberg Self-proclaimed democracies aren’t necessarily real ones. Modern systems are mostly representative and different from original Athens’ direct democracy. Switzerland comes closest with its use of popular initiatives and referendums.
