A phygital model before that word became a buzzword. Insurance access in India is still one of the great unsolved problems. But today is a moment to pause and say, this founding team earned it. At @BlumeVentures, we spend a lot of time thinking about what it actually takes to build a company over 10 years, not just the funding milestones but the operational, regulatory and strategic decisions that compound quietly in the background. We hosted a CFO Engagement with a few finance leaders in the ecosystem last week and here are a few things on our mind right now: On AI: We’re being deliberate. The opportunity is real but so is the noise. We’re focused on vertical, specialized applications for recruiting, collections, and call centers where the use case is clear and the business justification is measurable. Horizontal AI plays are harder to underwrite when companies are still making semi-permanent decisions. On the CFO function: The best finance leaders at our portfolio companies aren't just managing compliance, they're building the finance function while scaling operations, navigating multi-entity structures and shifting from "guardian of money" to genuine growth enabler. That transition is harder than it sounds. On fundraising: India-first strategies are gaining conviction in ways they weren't a few years ago. Non-dilutive financing structures are increasingly part of the toolkit and the shift toward India listings is real momentum, not just a narrative. We're in this for the long game with our founders. He used to ask every founder this question. Then he found his own answer and built India's largest integrated real estate platform. Last evening, 30+ founders and VCs gathered to ask: 👉 What is true longevity? 👉 How do we live longer, and better? We had a diverse (and amazing) mix of young + experienced founders, all digging into: ⚡ Why healthcare today is broken ⚡ Why systems biology + longevity medicine are the future We kicked off with a Deadhang challenge 💪 and @mash57 smashed it, winning by a mile (1 min 42 seconds) 🤯 (Deadhang is one of the strongest real indicators of longevity - more on that in my next post.) @FOXOclub's medical director Hitakshi articulated the current healthcare limitations beautifully: Too prescriptive No root cause focus Missing whole-person care Not casting a wide-enough diagnostic net Patchwork, symptomatic fixes Medicine 2.0 is broken. Medicine 3.0 is what’s next. Medicine 3.0, powered by systems biology, is proactive - it decodes the whole system, personalises interventions, finds root causes, and optimises healthspan, not just lifespan. It’s the shift from disease management to health optimisation - using data, biology, and tech to design care that is predictive, preventive, and precise. The workshop came to an end with an all immersive rapid-fire session. Here are few among the many many topics we covered: 💥 How much protein should we really consume? 💥 Which exercises genuinely extend lifespan? 💥 How do stress, sleep, genetics + epigenetics influence our longevity goal? And well, it’s never good to let people leave empty handed - so, we shared 7 must-read longevity books. (I’ll post these too soon.)
