@AustinDevaney @TheAtlantic @AnnieLowrey An actually, the rich have a lot of loopholes as it is. They don’t make most of their money in wages. Flatten everything and the government gets a whole lot more tax revenue coming in.

Members of both parties are egging on a nationwide tax revolt—and if the economy were to tank, the country could end up with a toxic combination of widespread joblessness and rampant inflation, @AnnieLowrey argues. theatln.tc/VsVxElnp 🎨: The Atlantic. Source: Getty.

@sama We're realizing that LLMs have peaked, and their impact on jobs has been overblown. Yeah, it's changing work. But it's nowhere near what people have been saying.

Most people don’t want to admit how much of this comes down to selfishness. Even in the online marriage debate, it’s often the people who have never been married who are the most certain that women are ‘out to get them.’ It’s the same underlying mindset: a belief that everyone is acting against them, and that they have no real agency in their outcomes. But in reality, a lot of what gets framed as external blame is just a preference for comfort over commitment, effort, and responsibility

@ZubyMusic 100% … in fact, income and number of offspring seem to be inversely correlated, so the "not enough money for children" trope is bullshit.

A few years ago, I recorded an interview with an American guy who has 16 children with his wife. They're not rich. He is the sole income earner and they homeschooled all their kids. They eschewed luxuries that many people wouldn't even consider luxuries anymore. I often think back to that conversation when people talk about being unable to afford children and how 'the economy' is the main reason birth rates have collapsed. It's more a matter of lifestyle expectations, priorities, and unwillingness to sacrifice, rather than pure economics. That's the reality. And I get it, so it's not a condemnation.

The future is already on the front line – and Ukraine is building it. These are our ground robotic systems. For the first time in the history of this war, an enemy position was taken exclusively by unmanned platforms – ground systems and drones. The occupiers surrendered, and the operation was carried out without infantry and without losses on our side. Ratel, TerMIT, Ardal, Rys, Zmiy, Protector, Volia, and our other ground robotic systems have already carried out more than 22,000 missions on the front in just three months. In other words, lives were saved more than 22,000 times when a robot went into the most dangerous areas instead of a warrior. This is about high technology protecting the highest value – human life. From the congratulatory address to the workers of Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex (2/3).

Yes, Australia is the final answer. The circled landmass is the full continent from space—reddish deserts, coastal outline, and that northern bay is exactly the Gulf of Carpentaria (your "upside down Gumby" shape). No southern Spain or NW Africa in sight; the image's features match your Australia map 100%, not Africa's. Side-by-side comparison confirms it. 🇦🇺

Hey Galaxy Fam 👀 I noticed a huge difference between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and S25 Ultra displays. After using the S26 Ultra for a while, my eyes felt tired and slightly uncomfortable. Note: Both phones were set to 2K resolution, and Privacy Mode was turned OFF on the S26 Ultra. You can see the issue in the pictures below. I think Samsung needs to fix this issue ASAP.

Andrej Karpathy just put out this tool that looks at AI's impact on job. He also deleted the original Github repo very quickly. Basically, he pulled 342 job types from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and had an LLM score each one from 0 to 10 based on AI exposure. The average exposure score is 5.3. Move the score, move the probability it will get wiped out by AI. - Software developers 9/10, - medical transcriptionists are a 10/10. - Lawyers 8/10 - General Office clerks 9/10 Basically any screen-based jobs are in trouble. $3.7T annual wages in high-exposure jobs (7+) pre-computed as ∑(BLS employment count × BLS median annual wage) over exactly those occupations whose Gemini Flash score is ≥7.

@KobeissiLetter This is the AI elephant in the room nobody's pricing in. Breakeven dropping from immigration slowdown today. Wait until AI agents start replacing white-collar tasks at scale. The breakeven could hit zero — and "full employment" becomes meaningless as a metric.

The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter·
The US labor market needs far fewer jobs to prevent unemployment from rising: The breakeven rate of household employment growth is down to just ~50,000 per month. This is the number of jobs needed to keep the unemployment rate stable. This marks a -75% to -80% decline from ~200,000-250,000 in 2023. The shift has been driven by sharply falling immigration, meaning fewer new workers are entering the labor force each month, reducing the number of jobs the economy needs to create. Meanwhile, in mid-2025, household employment growth was already near or below zero, yet unemployment remained relatively stable. The US job market is undergoing one of its most significant structural shifts in decades.

Raise your hand if you’ve been directly working with Claude Code this week, and believe every word that’s being said about how incredible Claude Code is. ✋ The pace of iteration and improvement this system is capable of is astounding. And that’s just from what I’m seeing from the instance I’m running from my own PC. Anecdotes are pouring in from everywhere on what people are accomplishing with Claude Code. Artificial Superintelligence is now visible on the horizon. I can see it glimmering from here, no longer obscured by the curvature of the event horizon.
