Exceedingly rare you see a rookie, especially non-center, positively impacting the defensive end over a solid sample. Matches the eye test too. CMB is the truth.

Collin Murray-Boyles' impact was made clear his rookie year... Defensive savant. High-feel connective passer. Off the charts anticipation for his age, often 3 steps ahead. Opportunistic scorer and rebounder too. Will be a disruptor for quite some time.

@UofBasketball The fact that he can make his game look so effortless and easy is a testament to how good he really is. It’s like watching a pga tour golfer and saying “oh, just swing like that.”

"More guys should simplify their game like Kon Knueppel" Nothing simple or easy about sprinting around & hitting motion 3s at a world-class clip. Just because he's not dribbling the air out of the ball doesn't mean his game is simple. Extremely difficult skillset to replicate.

@editti22 Hate it and it’s not just baseball. Went to a Brooklyn Nets game last year and there was some sort of music or sound effect every possession. It was obnoxious

My 7YO pointed this out last sunday at the Os game. "Why do they have to play a sound every time?" I didn't notice if it was every pitch or not but it's def a lot. Folks dont want to hear club music after every single pitch, it's a bit much, The natural sound of the game is ok!
BG@Gleas_

@Jomboy_ Coming back to this tweet because the games are almost unwatchable even on tv now because after every pitch they blast a sound effect. Make it stop

@les_boulez No disrespect, but this isn’t sorcery. Just pointing out that I’ve seen this exact action in transition setting up that dump off pass to a trailing Tre for a quick 3 a lot this year. Trae young is gonna do some incredible things but this is an example of coaching - it’s by design

@tomhaberstroh @OhhMar24 Any chance you have similar data for NFL? Anecdotally, it seems Achilles RTP has gone down closer to 7-8 months in a lot of cases (since Speed Bridge especially). Ardarius Washington is one example off the top of my head this year

@AndrewTalksHoop Was thinking about this conversation today. Seems that most of what you said about Book still holds true.. hope he has a night tonight..

@andrewtalkshoop Yep that part worries me a bit. With Kobe Johnson transferring in last year we saw it took a lot of time to coach out the mental lapses and bad habits. But Kobe played at USC, he didn’t spend 2 years playing for Coach Izzo

Did anyone see UCLA coming for book?! I was thinking ACC or Big 12.

@keybarhoops Though it certainly makes it a lot easier to move on from this player when you have an SGA already..

@keybarhoops It’s not a 1:1 comparison but I think the Thunder saw this playing out with Josh Giddey. He wasn’t good enough (given, on a team that was already very good) to command high usage and win playoff games. So he was traded bc his skill set doesn’t scale down to an off ball role

@mikegrib8 I’m curious, what does Tre get knocked for in the model?

OK, im not revealing the '26 results but model is 99.9% done & I gave it ZERO information about players from 2025 or this yr in. + only players born 2001-12-31 and before were in training period. Very few players from 2024 draft. Fears 6, it loves guards. Otherwise, i like it.

@SamQuinnCBS Imo both players being “injury prone” solves the development piece too. 45-60 games for each on 28 min a night next season. Unless they’re Top 5 seed post ASB Anyway big fan of your work Sam - I just want to be a happy wizards fan. I’ll trust this FO until proven otherwise

@SamQuinnCBS At least I hope - but none of this FO’s previous actions give me indication that they plan to sign an ailing 34 year old AD to a big money deal or give anymore than role player money to a 6’2” guard who quite literally cannot play defense

@YardsPerGretch If front offices still believe in him, he’ll be a head coach next year. I’d very happily take him and Baltimore and I’ll let Bisciotti do his due dilligence to decide whether he’s fit to be the hc or not.

@Ro3929 The players came back from 1-6 to go 5-1 over their next six games, including beating Buffalo. Public sentiment is the same as when they were 1-6. I’ve seen teams fall apart. They don’t go 5-1 for any stretch.

My whole point is this is and has been the perception of McDaniel but that there isn't much evidence to support it. Specifically, people were saying this early in 2025, and things should've and would've fallen apart this year if this was true about him.
Paxton's Neck@Eddies_Lunch

@YardsPerGretch Optics matter though. They influence beliefs. When things go downhill, everything gets shaky. He is a great offensive mind so he will have a role in the league for awhile. Sometimes coaches are better as coordinators. Maybe I am wrong but this seems like the case.

@YardsPerGretch Do you think public sentiment is that far off base as compared to what players and front offices think? Regardless of whether the sentiment is actually true or not , that’s part of the job. He’ll have to get others to believe in him and what he stands for, including fans &media

Getting a lot of the same replies that amount to: "The narrative is true because I believe it's true." Getting basically nothing to refute the actual point that the players responded to him more than keyboard warriors who call people soft understand.

@andlankell Even better for the wizards. Let him sit this season, recover from the injuries and get his body right while they tank and go out and earn that contract next year

@TroyHalibur I think it’s byproduct of the way this team has aggressively pursued young talent. Not inherently bad - not every player will be the best fit for the wizards / wizards won’t be the best for them. Think Josh giddey. Team fit/role, character, and only so many roster spots

@Jon_Mackenzie Every decision throughout the game is made (or at least should be) to optimize the team’s chance of winning, not scoring the greatest amount of points possible. There is no reward (few exceptions excluded) for winning by a greater margin in football or soccer, simply Win/D/Loss.
