In 1974, Marina Abramović stood still for six hours and let strangers do anything they wanted to her. The performance was called Rhythm 0. Beside her was a table with 72 objects. Some were harmless: a rose, feathers, honey, bread, wine, and perfume. Others were weapons: scissors, knives, razor blades, chains, a whip, and a loaded gun. At first, people treated her gently. They gave her flowers, kissed her, and moved her body like she was a doll. Then they realized she would not resist. The crowd began cutting off her clothes, touching her, writing on her skin, and using blades on her body. Someone cut her neck and drank her blood. Near the end, a person placed the loaded gun in her hand, pointed it at her head, and pushed her finger toward the trigger. A fight broke out between spectators. Some wanted the performance to continue, while others realized someone might actually pull the trigger. That was the moment the room split between those willing to hurt her and those trying to stop it. When the six hours ended, Abramović started walking toward the audience. Many of the same people who had touched, humiliated, and hurt her turned away and left, unable to face her as a real person again.

@realcopeaganda @ma1ybe Communist Harris uses taxpayers money to buy her things. Trump used his own money from his over 200 successful businesses to pay for the ballroom. They're not comparable.

A woman who’s almost 60 having a pair of $800 earrings and wearing them to arguably the most important event of her life is not a story. I think y’all need to leave the house more.
🦢@damnidc__

kamala harris was not wearing earphone earrings during the debate. she was wearing $800 tiffany & co pearls. instead of pushing conspiracies how about we point out that most americans would kill for $800 in their savings, not on their ears, and she’s out of touch that way.

@HalfTangible @MuggsMcRatmin @ChrisRGun @JeremyDBoreing C'mon, what negotiating power does the US have besides threats of exterminating the Iranian population? For the coming two weeks oil is allowed to flow, but what about after? Do you think Iran wil decide not to enforce a toll on every boat after these two weeks?

Donald Trump has been a national politician for a decade. Anyone still reacting to the guy’s negotiating tactics and hyperbole with this sort of hysteria ten years in should be disqualified from political commentary. If he nukes Tehran at 8pm, I’ll admit I’m the crazy one. When he doesn’t, this crew will admit nothing and find some other comment to be scandalized by.
Bo Winegard@EPoe187

Ok this is legitimately a threat to annihilate an entire people, an obvious and grotesque war crime. There is absolutely no defense of this and it should lead to immediate impeachment and removal.

@HalfTangible @MuggsMcRatmin @ChrisRGun @JeremyDBoreing A few weeks ago the Straight was open to everyone. 40B dollars, 30+ lifes later the straight is only open for select ships that have to pay a tax in Chinese currency. No matter how you spin this, the US came up significantly worse out of this than it went in.

@AaRum32 @aakashgupta Okay, fair enough, but that video look like several times that height. The M&Ms would have returned to their natural terminal velocity by the time they are close to the ground. They also wouldn't stay perfectly under the helicopter the entire way down.

The physics on this are worth running because "thousands of feet" sounds terrifying until you remember that height stops mattering after a few seconds. An M&M weighs about 0.9 grams. Terminal velocity is determined by the ratio of mass to cross-sectional area. For something that light and that round, terminal velocity lands somewhere around 10 to 15 mph. A raindrop hits you harder. J.B.S. Haldane wrote the best explanation of this in 1926: "You can drop a mouse down a thousand-yard mine shaft; and, on arriving at the bottom, it gets a slight shock and walks away. A rat is killed, a man is broken, a horse splashes." The square-cube law means small objects have proportionally more surface area relative to their mass. Air resistance wins. Whether you drop an M&M from 100 feet or 10,000 feet, it hits the ground at the same speed. It reaches terminal velocity in seconds. After that, gravity and drag are in equilibrium and the candy is just floating down at jogging pace. The content is dumb for a dozen reasons. Physics danger to bystanders is not one of them.
Rick D@RickD_GK

This can turn out to be really bad, seriously. Those M&M's falling thousands of feet to the ground can cause some damage, especially if they hit somebody. People need to use their brain a bit more before doing things for content... 🤬

@AaRum32 @aakashgupta When it is on the ground? Sure I have, but do you feel the downforce of the helicopter when its 100+ meters above you? Do you think the winds produced by a helicopter at normal flight height are strong enough to affect objects on the ground?

@AaRum32 @aakashgupta Do you think the downforce the rotor creates reaches all the way to the ground? As soon as the M&Ms aren't affected by the rotor they slow down to their natural terminal velocity due to air resistance. If the downforce affected them at all.

@aakashgupta What about the downdraft from the props of the helicopter? They could push M&M's beyond their terminal velocity? Their mass isn't strong enough to resist the rotor wash or does physics only belong to people with a piece of paper?

@jbaby4788 @levirelates That is a problem depending on the car and how many miles you have driven. I'd at least check your oil level and top up if needed. Also visually inspect your break disks and if you can pads. Maintenance is a lot cheaper than whatever issues you'll create when you neglect it.
