Our paper on Stopless-ORF Circular RNAs (socRNAs) is now out in Cell. By high-res tracking and comparing translation by either single or multiple ribosomes, we find that ribosomes cooperate to overcome pausing to ensure fast and efficient translation

Two new lab papers: In the first paper we develop Stopless-ORF circRNAs (socRNAs), a technique to measure translation by individual ribosomes with incredible precision. Amazing work jointly led by @MadernMax and @_SoraY.

Very happy to share our new paper in @acsnano, done in close collaboration with @cees_dekker. We develop Zero-mode waveguide nanowells to image single proteins in live cells with much better signal-to-background (>10-fold) than confocal or TIRF.

Happy to share our new paper @NatureMicrobiol. Using single-molecule imaging of virus infection and innate immune activation, we show that viral replication rates modulate immune activation. Another great collaboration with the Kuppeveld lab @UniUtrecht

Very excited to share a new paper from the lab where we fabricate nanowells to image single proteins present at high protein concentration in living cells. Led by @SoraY from my lab and through an amazing collaboration with the @cees_dekker lab.

Most delighted to share our work led by the stellar @mabedimu under the aegis of Ulrich Hartl @MPI_Biochem, initiated by @prasad_kasturi on novel aspects of translational quality control coordinated by GCN1! #ribosome #collisions #codonnonoptimality
Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB)@MPI_Biochem
A team led by Ulrich Hartl found out that the protein GCN1 helps to secure the "accident site" after two #ribosomes collided and calls other complexes to degrade the defective #mRNA @CellCellPress ❕ press release biochem.mpg.de/can-we-promote… ❕ full article cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

Thank you for this wonderful celebration full of surprises and video greetings from former lab members and colleagues. Very fortunate having such a great team and being at such a great institute! Looking much forward to the upcoming years together!
Sandra Hake@Hake_Chromatin
We warmly welcome Sigurd Braun (@TheBraunLab) as newly appointed JLU Professor! He and his international team of PhD students joined us in 2021 via the renowned DFG Heisenberg program. Of course, this special moment had to be celebrated with all Institute for Genetics' members.
