@Pontus4Pope @mattyglesias Nothing in your second set of pictures contradicts anything in the first. The second set establishes that some people established a correlation between Letby's presence and the child deaths, not that anyone had firmed up suspicion she was killing children.

To be truly unsegregated, the university must allow local residents to access any part of the campus at any time, including dorms, dining halls, classrooms, etc. And campus security must be eliminated to ensure that no restrictions are enforced.

@ShawnMenard1 @DeanTester Honest question: instead of simply blocking market rate, why don't you actually get a small social housing project off the ground, show the city and voters it works, and then use that to build momentum? Surely that is more a more proactive way to build your vision?

@DeanTester I’ve been advocating for affordable housing for a lot longer than capitalist free market supply-side only solution advocates. We got here because of free market “solutions” and governments decimating affordable housing creation for decades.

Preserving the historic structure does not prevent the building from being converted to “brand new” “luxury” units, but it does reduce the total number of units available — fewer jobs, less tax revenue, less affordability.

Japan has a strong reputation in so many areas but in GDP terms they’re down with the southern europeans.

@RyanTolusso @hamiltonnolan The issue is how real estate works. New, high priced units raise the average price (usually called comps) for all real estate. For rich and poor. Housing markets aren't simple supply and demand markets.

@clownmalenko @hamiltonnolan Based on the level of economic discourse in my local politics, and the housing shortage in major cities across the globe, I wouldn’t say “I work in housing policy” provides much credibility. There’s a lot of bad policy out there!
