Launching Today: Going Home by @niceaunties We’re excited to host the launch of the latest piece by @niceaunties, known for her projects that always carry a powerful message. "Going Home" is no exception. ↓ Here's why: Did you know palm oil is the most widely used vegetable oil in the world, helping make products like ice cream smoother? However, in some countries, it’s illegal to sell products labeled “No Palm Oil.” Most palm oil comes from Southeast Asia, where its production is devastating habitats and putting species like orangutans at risk. As plantations expand, they cause deforestation, reduce biodiversity, and displace local communities. The industry also contributes to air pollution and carbon emissions. While groups like the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil aim to promote eco-friendly practices, their impact is questionable. The severe effects on wildlife and local communities highlight the urgent need for stronger conservation efforts. The artwork "Going Home" tells a poignant story set in this turmoil. It begins with orangutans and aunties escaping a burning rainforest. One orangutan shares, "It was difficult at first... all that burning... the smoke... I think about them, you know? My family... friends... my home. Then the aunties took us to these doors... I was scared at first..." The aunties rescue the orangutans and lead them through doorways in trees into another world—perhaps a parallel universe or a vision of the afterlife. This piece perfectly illustrates how art can also be used to convey an important message. → Join us today at 13:00 EST for the launch of this powerful piece on Daily xyz 🦧
