@JL_Baseball I hadn't peeked his savant yet, but having watched his PAs and seeing the balls he's been hitting it honestly isn't that surprising 👀
English

@AntonioArchil11 @Mardevicre You realize he’s coming back from injury right?he will go deep if he can limit walks
English

@Mardevicre i still want to see him work deeper into games, starters should be able to go 5-6 innings minimum in a start where they’re not getting blown up
English

@SoundChaser56 @JimmySheret @StevenACohen2 To be fair it is ALMOST 40 years lol in 6 months and October hits, it will mark 40. The semantics lol
English

Nobody likes to lose but I saw some “ green shoots tonight “. On offense, Lindor had two hits including a home run. Bichette got a double hitting it to left field as opposed to recently being right field prone. Benge got a solid hit. Soto started his running progression today. Semien hit a shot that might have been a home run on a warmer night. Finally, Nolan McLean pitched an outstanding game going 7 innings. Hang in there fans, we will turn this around !

@drinkonsaturday @MagaGrunt1 Put stuff like that on my truck, and you’ll be spending the next few days shitting out your teeth. Right after you get out of the hospital.
English

When that asshat in the jacked-up truck sprawls across four stalls like he owns the lot, it's time for some artistic justice. Skip the confrontation—grab a few well-placed decals (think "Small Dick Energy" in bold, or "Park Like a Prick") and channel your inner vandal on the dusty tailgate.
Finger-draw in the grime: a giant 🍆 with a sad face, or "Sorry, my truck compensates" in elegant script. Add stick-figure arrows pointing to the wasted spaces: "These three are for my ego."
Hand-drawn leveling: a cartoon big-rig with tiny wheels, or a simple "Learn to park, Chad" surrounded by smiley faces. It's petty, temporary, and washes off with the next rain—harmless fun that hits the "big man" right in the fragile masculinity.
Think it's too much? Nah. Just enough for the right guy who needs the peg pulled. The lot laughs, he fumes, and karma gets a quick sketch.

@moss_gossip @vfc_cipher @brianmctaggart And there are a good amount of those minor leaguers doing just that. With $54M less to spend on translators and flying in family. Or even just going out to buy food from their culture.
English

@vfc_cipher @brianmctaggart Aww is dude having a tough transition? Has it been a tough few weeks earning millions? Give me a break. Thousands of minors leaguers have to deal with a “tough transition” away from home w/o the benefit of $54M. Thousands of troops have “tough transitions” away from home too.
English

@brianmctaggart Dude has said a couple times it’s been a hard transition and he’s home sick. Give him a week off skip a start and let him go home and see family. Dude needs a reset.
English

@Jghosttt9 @AlexFast8 It means he swings at roughly 1 out of 10 pitches thrown outside of the strike zone. Juan Soto career is 28.4% to show how elite 10.2% is
English

@AlexFast8 Can you extrapolate what this means regarding the 10.2% chase rate?
English

@LanceBroz @mike_petriello @enosarris Does this account for when they changed where a velocity is measured? Up until 2017 it was at the plate. Starting in 2017 it was out of the hand. This skews data if not accounted for.
English

Here's a graph of four-seam fastball velocity for MLB RHPs since 2008. (h/t @enosarris)
Pretty notable rate-of-growth change since 2019.
If that pace sticks, we'll surpass 96 mph by 2029. 📈

English

@MYoung1588 @bythewaybro Stabilization for hitters
Swing %s- 40-50 PA, 10-13 G
P/PA- 40-50 PA, 10-13 G
Contact Rate- 40-100 PA, 10-25 G
K% - 40-60 PA , 10-15 G
EV - 45 BIP, 16 G
LA - 50 BIP, 18
Bat speed- 5-10 swings, 2-5 G
So not there yet but getting there
English

@bythewaybro It should also be noted most of these stats don't stabilize until a few months into the season. Meaning these numbers are virtually useless.
English

@MYoung1588 @bythewaybro Actually what’s great with statcast data is that’s not true at all. Swing speed stabilizes after a few games. Most batted ball data becomes sticky at 40-50 batted balls so figure 15-20 games. Pitch level data is even sooner, like whiff and chase rates.
English

@BaseballWRLD_ @waterenjoyer216 @TigersJUK That not true is not true. Between now and OD, has there been a prospect that is more hyped than Mcgonigle who has been promoted? No so since Mcgonigle, no one has been this hyped. Should’ve asked “Who is the last prospect that is as hyped as KG?”. I’d say Vlad jr or PedoFranco
English

@Owenjayyy @TalkinBaseball_ @McKenzieMNelson This mindset sucks so much lmao. I can tell you know nothing about accountability, responsibility or leadership. How do you expect to be great without being prepared. Vinny P is one of the two biggest leaders in the clubhouse along with Sal. He wasn’t disrespect, you’re just soft
English

@TalkinBaseball_ @McKenzieMNelson This sucks so much lmao. Why is literally anyone but the head coach (if even necessary) speaking like this about a player.
English

“You got a 36-year-old catcher who’s preparing to DH then his world gets a little rocked… We’re glad Carter’s okay. That was the initial thought when trying to get a hold of his parents." -Vinnie Pasquantino after Royals rookie Carter Jansen overslept
(via @McKenzieMNelson)
English

@GarySmithInKY @podoffame @baseball_ref Sale averages 6 2/3 per start. Kids was 7 1/2. I’d argue sale doing it in this error is more impressive than Koufax
English

This is why these “comparison” tables are utterly worthless and cherry picking because of what they purposefully omit. Complete games Sale has 16 and Koufax 137 in his shortened career. Yes, I realize it was a different era. Sale has 3 shutouts in his entire career Koufax 31 in his last 4 seasons. Sale never won 20 or more games in his entire career Koufax 3 in his last four seasons. And I could go on. Back in the days it was difficult to get in the Hall of Fame. Now not so much so. It is almost heresy to mention Sale and Koufax in the same breath.
English

@Queenlourdess @cecegkh Did you lear that in the Learing Center of Minny? Lmao
English

Sovereign Citizens:
What are your thoughts on Sovereign Citizens and how far this woman was willing to go instead of just giving the Game Wardens her name?
This video shows a woman refusing to give her name, date of birth, or ID, using classic sovereign citizen arguments: claiming she’s a “flesh and blood” living being (not a legal “person” or citizen), has renounced citizenship, doesn’t accept government benefits or documents, and only has “stateless travel documentation.” She says she’s willing to go to jail and have her kids go to DCF rather than comply. The wardens cite violations like driving on a closed road and an off-leash dog, trying to de-escalate, and eventually threaten arrest for non-cooperation.
English

@TidesofHistory1 @DetroitDeadpool I’ll give you Holiday. That’s a pretty good comp. I still think Mcgonigle plate approach is much better. The others you mentioned are valid responses but very different prospects. Also I don’t belie that Holiday was actually send down
English

@SDPMax @DetroitDeadpool If you can’t think of former top 10 prospects that’s have been up and down that’s on you. Jared Kelenic, Jordan Lawler, Jordan Walker, Spencer Torkelson, Henry Davis. All of these guys were top 5 in the last 5 years.
English

If McGonigle continues, when does he become the #1 prospect in the MLB or not called a prospect at all?
MLB@MLB
FULL AT-BAT: MLB's No. 2 prospect Kevin McGonigle won the epic 10-pitch battle 😳
English

@magajcs @deeptocenter I definitely agree. Although I would counter with two points. Teams already started pitching him differently towards the end of spring training. Less heat, more slow stuff. Secondly, he’s a very smart hitter. His approach should adapt quickly to the changes pitchers make.
English

Let’s wait and see how he does the second and third time a team sees him and makes adjustments based on scouting reports.
He is going to hit some turbulence and need to adjust back. That’s the difference between everyday players/all stars and guys who are fringe or wash out.
I’m sure he will be fine but give him some runway.
English

@TidesofHistory1 @DetroitDeadpool And neither of Gorman or Holliday were as highly regarded with their plate approach / bat control ability. Dylan Crews and Christian Campbell neither. Besides them I can’t think of any recent tippy top prospects to get sent down once called up
English

Unless you’re named Paul Skenes, most guys do. He’s not a freak athlete like an Elly, Tatis, or Witt. I think he’ll face similar struggles to Jackson Holliday/Nolan Gorman when people figure him out. I don’t think it’ll take him as long to figure it out but it becomes a chess game. When you aren’t elite in other areas it’s hard for teams to be patient.
English

@Miggysbat 3B Mcgonigle
LF Greene
RF Carp
1B Tork
DH Keith
2B Gleyber
C Dingler
CF Meadows
SS Baez
IMO this is their best lineup
