There are #FiveTests which must be met to ensure children and staff are SAFE before we open schools to more pupils! #NotGoingBack @mariafawcett1 @SheenaW_NEU @RLong_Bailey @SOSBirmingham @GavinWilliamson @GawainLittle
Don't Leave, Organise@dontleave_org

We’re in complete #solidarity with the @NEUnion, teachers & staff across the country: schools must only re-open when it is safe to do so. The #FiveTests set out by the National Education Union must be met & if they’re not, we’ll support union members in any action they take.

The PM said to workers don’t use public transport to get back to work use a car instead? Many workers in low paid jobs indeed many of the occupations the PM mentioned cannot afford cars, completely detached from reality of the workforce who rely on public transport #COVID19

We have launched a document containing the questions to government asked by @NEUnion about the potential spread of COVID 19 in schools. Five weeks and three letters - no reply. So we looked for the international evidence. Read and digest: neu.org.uk/media/10436/vi…

Today @NEUnion publishes a report showing questions it has asked Govt about impact of Covid-19 on children, families, staff and wider community. We have written 3 times but so far received no response. Read our report 👉 bit.ly/vital_questions Ask your MP to press for answers.

My normal response to moronic things like this is ‘Melt’ but this time is worse. You are a despicable publication and could not care less about the health of my community. You disgust me

To paraphrase @BorisJohnson 'we too must take careful steps to modify our measures', to ensure that we do not compromise the safety of pupils, staff or the public. Time now to work with the profession to balance ambition with the art of the possible (5/5) #staysafe #COVID19

Few schools in the country will have the physical space, let alone the staff available, to accommodate a return of three year groups spread out in this way (4/5)

Maintaining social distancing of 2m (assuming that is even possible with young children) will require limits on class-sizes of around 10 to 12 children in a typical sized classroom. This suggests most Reception, Year One and Year Six classes will need to be split in 3… (3/5)

While social-distancing advice remains unchanged, it is hard to see how the ambition set out by the PM can be achieved in practice in Primary, and particularly Infant Schools… (2/5)

The PM has said that the phased return to school for pupils across England would begin with the youngest, whilst simultaneously warning that the country must continue to obey the rules on social-distancing. I’m finding it hard to reconcile these demands: (1/5) @nahtnews
