It’s still pretty perplexing how many freed slaves didn’t migrate North after slavery. And if not then, then definitely during Jim Crow. I would’ve been on the first smoking train to Chicago

Spoke to a teacher from New York. Makes $140,000/yr with a 10 month schedule. Retires in 2026 with ~ $90,000/yr pension + full health benefits. Traditional careers like this can be game changers. Why aren’t more people doing this?!

Metal roofs, though simple, aren't ideal because no matter what you secure them with, the screw holes will lose their water-tightness and trap water against your frame. Also very expensive, and cook your house in the summer. Tileroofs are heavy, brittle and expensive... BUT reusable. Makes a lot of sense in poorer nations where buildings are demolished and rebuilt a lot. Shingle roofs are largeley the optimal choice. You got a better idea? Patent it.
