During a routine patrol in Bugoma Central Forest Reserve, @ugwildlife rangers arrested a suspect found transporting illegally produced charcoal on a motorcycle. Rangers also destroyed additional sacks of charcoal and dismantled an active charcoal burning site discovered deep inside the forest reserve. UWA continues to intensify patrols and enforcement operations against illegal activities threatening Bugoma’s ecosystem and biodiversity.

Below is the burial program: A requiem mass will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 noon at Christ the King Church, Kampala. Thereafter, a vigil will take place at the Ambassador’s family home in Kitiko Village, Kigo, Kampala. On Wednesday, 8th, the body will be taken to Kikube District Council at 10:00 a.m. for a special council sitting. This will be followed by a second vigil at Mzee’s home in Buhimba, Kigaya, Kikube District. The burial will take place on Thursday, starting at 12:00 noon. This announcement is extended to all political leaders, religious leaders, Bunyoro Kingdom officials, local government officials, friends, in-laws, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of the UPDF, and the general public. I extend my deepest condolences to the Commander-in-Chief, H.E. Gen. @KagutaMuseveni , the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. @mkainerugaba , the family of the late Maj. Gen. Deus Sande, the entire UPDF fraternity, and the people of Masaka on the tragic loss of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Armoured Division Commander. Maj. Gen. Deus Sande passed away at around 3:00 a.m. following sudden breathing complications. He was a disciplined officer, a devoted patriot, and a dedicated servant of our nation. He will especially be remembered for his steadfast efforts in pacifying and stabilizing Masaka, where his leadership greatly contributed to restoring peace and security. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant strength and comfort to his family, colleagues, and the nation during this difficult time.
