I urge the Union Government to immediately hold talks with activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike protesting against the NEET exam irregularities, to ensure his well-being, and take measures to fulfill the students' demands. @narendramodi @AmitShah @dpradhanbjp @EduMinOfIndia In the Jantar Mantar area of the capital city, Delhi, for more than the past 18 days, Sonam Wangchuk - an educational revolutionary and environmentalist from the land of Ladakh - has been putting himself through immense suffering without consuming food, standing on the brink of death to wage a righteous protest. This fasting protest he is undertaking, disregarding his own life to protect the educational rights of crores of poor, simple, and middle-class students who represent the future of this nation, is shaking the very soul of the entire Indian Union. However, the ruling class of this country remaining silent and indifferent, feigning ignorance even while witnessing a man's life hanging in the balance, is highly condemnable. Naam Tamilar Katchi has been warning from the very beginning that this Nationwide examination system like 'NEET' propagated by the Union BJP Government is a massive daylight robbery that shatters the medical dreams of poor and simple students. The question paper leaks and irregularities that unfolded this year have proven our warnings absolutely true. This exam board has turned into a massive educational marketplace, ruining the future of lakhs of students who lost their sleep studying for months and years. This is not just an administrative failure; it is an act of violence inflicted upon the entire educational system of this country and its future generation. It is against this injustice, and by insisting that the Union BJP Government's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must immediately resign taking responsibility for the question paper leak, that Sonam Wangchuk has taken to the field, joining hands with the youths protesting in Delhi. Due to the hunger strike exceeding 18 days, his body weight has dropped by over 9 kg, resulting in muscle loss and a weakened heart, leaving him in a critical condition. It is a matter of great shame that this nation, which watched the movie '3 Idiots' inspired by his life and clapped in admiration saying "education is not about rote learning, it is about stimulating thought," is now changing TV channels and watching silently when the real-life great man is fighting on the brink of death for that very same ideology. It is also deeply regrettable that Chief Minister Vijay, who acted and succeeded in the Tamil adaptation of the same movie, remains silent on the tyranny of the BJP government and has failed to raise his voice for Sonam Wangchuk. Without delaying any further, the Union Government must immediately hold talks with Sonam Wangchuk and the student representatives protesting at Jantar Mantar. On behalf of the Naam Tamilar Katchi, I urge the Union Government to completely scrap dominant exam systems like NEET and take strict legal action against those responsible for the question paper leak and the Ministry of Education that oversees it. Education is not a commercial commodity; it is the livelihood right of ordinary people! While appealing to him to end his hunger strike, Naam Tamilar Katchi extends its absolute support to the righteous struggle of Sonam Wangchuk, who is striving to protect the future of our children. - Senthamizhan Seeman Chief Coordinator | NTK
