Today has broken my heart in a way I never imagined possible. Losing my brother, my friend and my companion in every struggle.
Kiptoo Ian ( @realcheywa ) left a wound that words can barely hold. It is hard to accept that the same person I checked on yesterday lying on oxygen yet fighting with the quiet strength he always carried has left us this evening.
Ian was more than a friend to me. I met him during my campaigns on a day that was supposed to be just a simple birthday celebration for his sister.
From that moment, he became family. He walked with me through the toughest moments of my journey, stood by me when many stepped aside and believed in me until we achieved what we once only talked about becoming Guild President of Kyambogo University.
He never feared the cost of standing for what was right. When we protested the fees policy and pushed for the 70% tuition policy so that our fellow students could sit their exams, he stood next to me fearless, determined and loyal until the end.
We were suspended together, struggled together and grew together.
To know that such a pure, brave and selfless soul was taken from us in a tragic accident sustaining severe head injuries on their journey from Ibanda, rushed to Mulago Hospital, taken for surgery due to internal bleeding 🩸.
He fought, but God chose to rest him.
Ian was the brother I didn’t grow up with but found along the way.
His support, laughter, courage and loyalty shaped my journey and my life in a way I will never forget. His absence will forever be felt, but his spirit, his kindness and his sacrifice will live in all of us who loved him.
May God receive him with mercy.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
And may we who loved him find strength in the memory of who he was a friend turned brother, a fighter and a light in our lives.
Rest in peace Kiptoo Ian.
You will forever remain in my heart ♥️

A technical team has been sweeping our offices since yesterday to try and establish what the goons might have planted at our offices. While it's difficult to establish, at this point, the full extent of damage, yesterday a GPS tracking device was found hidden behind the light of one of the vehicles we left at the premises, while in my office, they found a small camera and another gadget, the purpose of which we are yet to establish. Sadly, we also found things that looked like fetishes (ebyawongo) hidden under the carpet. As the teams continue to do their work with diligence, we remain unmoved because of the justness of our cause and the correctness of our mission. WE SHALL CERTAINLY OVERCOME.

We are very delighted to receive news of fresh sanctions imposed by the United States of America on four senior police officers, who have been involved in torture, cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment. The four are Bob Kagarura, Elly Womanya, Alex Mwine and Hamdan Twesigye. Among other crimes, these four will be remembered for their role in the gross torture of Hon. @ZaakeFrancis, which was confirmed by the High Court. As always and despite the massive evidence against them, the regime shielded them and even promoted them! These sanctions are yet another reminder that the wheels of justice may come slowly, but they will eventually arrive. They're also a reminder to all overzealous senior, mid-level and junior security officers that they will be HELD INDIVIDUALLY responsible for the crimes they commit against the people of Uganda. We are very thankful to the Government of the United States for continuously listening to the pleas of the people of Uganda about those who violate rights with impunity and remain untouchable by the captured institutions in Uganda.
