Here is why: Situational awareness. The seat directly behind them is a total blind spot. They can’t see what you’re doing in the rearview mirror without physically turning their head. For many drivers, having someone in that spot is a safety risk. It's the easiest place for someone to cause trouble without the driver seeing it coming.

I literally won the argument on a different chain. If you’re a citizen you need the same documents to register to vote as you need to get a drivers license or passport. The only difference is that you need the information to update your registration to vote which is slightly more inconvenient but just keep your info
