Over the past three days, @SaveChildren_KE and @JoiningForcesKE partners joined government agencies including the National Gender Equality Commission, the @ChildServicesKE, @KRACorporate , and the Office of the Controller of Budget among others to advance Kenya’s commitment to child responsive public finance. Together, we conducted a technical review, identified priority budgeting mechanisms, and developed a Child Sensitive Budgeting Checklist, to be piloted by NGEC, to strengthen how children’s priorities are planned, financed, and monitored at national and county levels. This is a strong milestone towards making Kenya’s budgets work for every child.

Save the Children is convening a regional workshop on the Safe Schools Declaration, bringing together governments and civil society from across East Africa to strengthen collective action in protecting education from attack. Following the 5th International Conference on the Safe Schools Declaration hosted in Kenya in November 2025, this workshop builds on that momentum to translate global commitments into practical regional action and sustained engagement. Taking place on 8–9 April 2026, the workshop, organized through Save the Children’s AU Liaison Office in collaboration with Eastern Africa Child Rights Network—will advance both endorsement and implementation of the Declaration across the region, while fostering shared learning, exchange of experiences, and practical approaches to strengthen action at national and regional levels. Together, we are building momentum for a region where schools are protected, children are safe, and futures are secured. #SafeSchools #SSD2025 #EndViolenceAgainstChildren #EducationInEmergencies #EastAfrica #ChildRights

@SaveChildren_KE joined child protection actors from across Kenya for a two‑day Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Working Group workshop focused on Anticipatory Action. Discussions centered on safeguarding children from climate‑related risks, strengthening the use of climate information, promoting meaningful child participation, and developing child‑sensitive anticipatory action plans ahead of the March–April–May (MAM) season. The CPiE Working Group, chaired by the @ChildServicesKE (SDCS) and co‑chaired by @SaveChildren_Ke and @UNICEFKenya, guided conversations on embedding anticipatory action within Kenya’s child protection system to ensure long‑term, sustainable protection for vulnerable children.

🌟 Strengthening Partnerships for Better Child Health in Kenya 🌟 @SaveChildren_KE was honoured to host the CEO of @SaveChildrenIT during her recent visit to Nairobi. As part of the visit, she met with our dedicated health teams at Bahati Hospital, led by Dr. Somane, the Makadara Sub-county MOH, and engaged with Community Health Promoters in the Mukuru informal settlement, who work tirelessly to ensure that children and families receive quality healthcare services. The discussions focused on improving service delivery, strengthening community health systems, and exploring ways Save the Children can continue to support frontline health workers in their day‑to‑day efforts to protect and promote children’s well‑being. 🤝 Together, we are committed to ensuring every child has access to the healthcare they deserve.

Earlier today, Save the Children Kenya, in partnership with the @MOH_Kenya and other partners, convened a media engagement forum at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, ahead of the International Maternal and Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC) 2026. The session brought together journalists to reflect on the urgent need to accelerate progress in maternal and newborn health, and to strengthen the role of the media in telling impactful, evidence-driven stories that influence action. As the global community prepares to gather in Nairobi from 23–26 March 2026 at the Edge Convention Centre, the focus remains clear—moving forward, together. At a time of increasing challenges in the global health landscape, collective action is more critical than ever to ensure mothers and newborns not only survive, but thrive. #IMNHC2026 presents a key moment to review progress, share lessons, and drive solutions that can transform outcomes for mothers and children. We recognize and value the media as essential partners in this journey—amplifying voices, shaping narratives, and holding stakeholders accountable. Together, we can keep maternal and newborn health at the center of conversations and action, ensuring every mother and every child has a chance to survive and thrive. #IMNHC2026 #imnhc #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth @savethechildrenKorea @KTNNewsKE @ChildServicesKE @StandardKenya @KBCChannel1 @citizentvkenya @NationMediaGrp @ntvkenya @K24Tv

At the community level, Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are driving meaningful change by engaging households with vital health education and referral support. Their close, day‑to‑day work with families is helping prevent avoidable deaths among mothers, newborns, and children under five—ensuring that more children survive and thrive. By empowering caregivers with timely information and linking vulnerable households to essential care, CHPs are strengthening the first line of health access where it matters most. 📷 Watch – youtube.com/watch?v=sLm3GR… @RabiltossapornP @savechildrenuk @SavetheChildren @savethechildrenreg @savechildrenuk @MOH_Kenya @NairobiCityGov @SavetheChildren @UNICEFhealth @UNICEFKenya @stckorea @cfkafrica

🤝 Chamgei Bikap Nandi! Meet Samuel and Elizabeth Kogo from Kolongei Self Help Group in Nandi Hills Sub‑County. Once fully reliant on tea farming, with little land left for kitchen gardens, their children often faced the effects of poor nutrition. But through @SaveChildren_KE Nandi Carbon–Climate Resilience, Livelihood and Nutrition Project, funded by @STC_Ventures, everything is changing. Today, the Kogos are proudly running thriving nurseries of avocado seedlings. With improved diets at home and the promise of income from future avocado harvests, they are confident their children will grow healthier and that surplus sales will help support their education too. This transformation is made possible by @STC_Ventures, together with implementing partners @kiptapkei and the County Government of Nandi. A powerful reminder that when families have the right support, resilience grows, one seedling at a time. @SC_RMCP @HarwooK

In the lead‑up to #InternationalWomen’sDay, @SaveChildren_KE echoes the call for the full realisation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Women are side-lined in peace negotiations, gender‑based violence in conflict is rising, and funding for women-led organisations is shrinking. This moment demands justice and action: fully funded and implemented National Action Plans, real investment in women’s civil society, more women peacekeepers, and genuine inclusion at every decision‑making table. This International Women’s Day, we demand decisive action because peace cannot wait, and women cannot wait for peace.
