Save Gaby's Deli

@SaveGabys

We were the customers of Gaby's Deli, & fought to save this London institution. We won from 2012-2016 when Gaby retired. He died in 2023. It’s now a tatty shop

@MikeBales There’s a huge tradition of Zakat - making big donations during Ramadan. Iftar in most mosques is open to hungry people. Mosques contribute to local communities and charities. Some allow the homeless to sleep in them if desperate. So yes…

I’m just wondering. Do Muslims ever spread their faith through good works, such as starting orphanages, opening hospitals, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor? Or do they just spread it with violence?

I’m pretty pissed off that you can’t see most West End shows from the stalls for under £83.50. It’s just too much. Producers need to stop pushing prices up — you won’t build new audiences by sticking young people in the cheap seats x

A reminder for anyone failing to read beyond the headlines that Keir Starmer never met Jeffrey Epstein, had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein, wasn't in parliament when Peter Mandelson sent his tip offs to Jeffrey Epstein, his sole contribution to the scandal being to appoint Mandelson as US ambassador. Just in case you were getting confused.

Which theatres do you feel like there's no such thing as a bad seat? I mean from the front row to up in the gods. A couple I can think of are: - London Palladium - National Theatre Olivier stage - Phoenix Theatre

@mrcarl_woodward Ridiculous. I love theatre but in recent years I've decided to venture outside of the West End more. Much more affordable and it's broadened my horizons.

@mrcarl_woodward But the same production was at @OpenAirTheatre in Regents Park and tickets were very affordable. You can be a canny theatre-goer if you book early & at the originating house. If people will pay vast sums, why not? Subsidises the rest of us.

We need to stop normalising bullshit ticket prices. Broadway and the West End aren’t sacred temples of art — they’re business models. And lately there’s been a very real effort to discredit and demean anyone who calls that out

Out in London nearly every night the last week. 4 music events, a pub quiz, Xmas drinks, birthday party. Stratford, the O2, Kentish Town, Holloway, Soho, Camden, Green Lanes. Never seen the city so busy, people lovely, public transport clean & efficient & I wasn’t murdered once

@afneil @IvorGCampbell It’s not hard to smash the boats. You just need safe legal routes to claim asylum in the U.K. NO Ukrainians ever get in a small boat for exactly that reason. Act for others like for them: apply online or go to a centre in a safe place. Sorted. Nobody wants to risk life & fortune

Despite regime propagandists recently claiming the government was getting on top of boat people migration, over 800 migrants crossed the Channel in small boats on Saturday alone - setting a record for December. Over 1,300 have arrived on Britain’s shores this past week. At one stage 13 boats were witnessed leaving the shores of France. This year, so far, 41,455 migrants on 671 boats have reached Britain - the second highest number of small-boat crossings recorded, behind the 45,755 in post-pandemic 2022. So much for smashing the people-smuggler gangs, which we now know was just a slogan Starmer deployed to get him through the election and behind which there was no substance.
