BREAKING: Authorities have identified the man shot and killed on I-15 last Friday, March 27 as Sayed Mousavi, a 29-year-old living in Sandy. Investigators say the incident unfolded around 4:56 p.m. along I-15 near 3500 South, when a Utah Highway Patrol trooper’s vehicle was struck by a car driven by Mousavi, who was traveling northbound. After both vehicles came to a stop, the trooper approached and made contact. According to Utah Highway Patrol, Mousavi then brandished a knife, prompting the trooper to open fire. Mousavi was pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper was not injured.
