For some weird reason, there are these 39°C patches of concentrated heat on my ceiling that blast infrared radiation into my room and make it feel like I'm under direct sunlight even at night 🤔

Red Dead 2 is so detailed that even troughs will empty out of water when shot if they are pierced by a bullet or arrow This is why RDR2 remains unrivaled as the greatest and most fun open world game ever made.

Since its upload in 2017, the viral Emirates A380 crosswind landing filmed by CargoSpotter has later been complemented by footage recorded by a passenger onboard the very same flight! While the outside angle clearly shows the aircraft's swinging movements, rudder inputs and continuous crosswind corrections, the cabin view demonstrates how differently the same landing is experienced from inside the aircraft. 📹: cargospotter

@xAviation Old Russian joke - passengers complain as pilot boards aircraft that he's too drunk to fly - “Relax. Yuri flies the leg to Moscow. I’ll be sober by the time we have to land.”

Meanwhile, in Russia, an Airbus A320 crew decided to skip de-icing and let aerodynamic forces do the job. Video from 2012 at Sheremetyevo via svoavia.

@OnDisasters The Alaska air crash was caused by the use of the operators use of their in house built special tool. The inspection was performed at the proper time, just not with the proper tool

Sadly, this UPS crash maintenance factors reminds me of the Alaska MD-83 crash, where some geniuses thought it would be a good idea to extend maintenance intervals to spare a few change. And it ended like this. Lessons not learned.
Lauren Rosenblatt@LRosenblatt_

Boeing increased the length of time between inspections for a critical part of the MD-11 hardware that holds the plane’s engine to its wing — despite multiple reports of previous part failures that had occurred within a shorter inspection interval. seattletimes.com/business/boein…

@nypost One of the divers was a professor of marine biology, who should surely know what was required to make such a dive? Accidents like this rarely have one cause — I suspect they’ll find a sequence of events that led to this. Or they could have been just really stupid.

@canalCCore2 Throwing oil thru exhaust is a normal thing with radial piston engines that sat for a while without being used. Oil leaks down and accumulates in the bottom cylinders. It may be a good idea to hand turn the engine several times before start attempting, so to prevent hydrolock

We are filling up the tank and getting ready to head to Kentucky to support our boy Thomas Massie! I might have to sell a kidney to make it home but screw it. It’s worth it to send a big middle finger to AIPAC.
RyanMatta 🇺🇸 🦅@Ryanmatta

If you want to be apart of the largest grassroots political movement in American history, come join us in Kentucky. We are riding out for Thomas Massie May 14th to May 20th, to send a message to AIPAC and the Israel lobby. I pray you will come join us.

An army specialist team from the United Kingdom conducted a parachute operation on Saturday to deliver medical support to a British national suspected of having hantavirus in Tristan da Cunha, Britain’s most remote overseas territory. “With oxygen supplies on the island at a critical level, an airdrop with medical personnel was the only method of getting vital care to the patient in time,” U.K. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said.

Anyone who's flown to Europe or Asia from USA (or vice versa) knows that when you watch the in-flight tracker screen, it shows you're making a giant rainbow-arc shape over Greenland/Alaska. You've probably wondered: "That's weird, why don't they just fly in a straight line? Wouldn't that be the easiest, most fuel-efficient way to get from point A to point B?" Don't worry - you are not crazy! Here's what's actually going on with these nonsensical flight paths, explained by Terry Eicher 👇
