My mom came over, cleaned my kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Did my dishes that were piled up in my sink. Did probably a months worth of laundry. Folded it all. Made me crab dip for lunch. Made me a pot roast and mashed potatoes for dinner. Laid in bed with me while I cried and stroked my hair. Brought a spend the night bag so she could sleep over. Today is her wedding anniversary. I said “isn’t today your anniversary? Don’t you want to be doing something?” And she said “yes. Spend time with you.” I was so ashamed I let myself and my life get this bad. I was so embarrassed everything around me, including me, was a mess. I cried and told her how ashamed I was that I couldn’t figure out how to function and I was so embarrassed she had to see me, and my apartment like this. And she just smiled and kissed me on the head and said “I will always do anything for you.” Didn’t make me feel gross. Or lazy. Or like a charity case. She saw her baby who needed help. An almost 30 year old woman was just her baby who needed taken care of once again. To be loved like that can make even the worst days of your life feel less heavy. Mothers are the most beautiful creatures on the planet. I went from crying because of all of the above, to crying that someone loves me that much. Nothing will ever compare.
