@wyatt_claypool Not really a tree to bark up. A positionality statement is pretty much required a part of methods to address any potential bias. This one is not bad with little navel-gazing and being non-apologetic.

I'm already seeing the excuse making for Caroline Elliott's Woke apologetics in her 2024 Thesis. People claiming that she had to do this to get her PhD Thesis paper accepted. I have a Master's degree in Public Policy and I wrote my final capstone research paper on crime and how "poverty" has little correlation with crime rates and the much stronger indicator of high crime is different groups' academic achievement rates and family stability. I could have done a Woke grovel about how I'm not trying to judge other culture as a "white male blah blah blah" but I didn't because that is stupid and hacky. I wrote how I liked and I didn't apologize and got my paper accepted despite the panel of professors being more openly Liberal.

Interestingly, and very creepily, the federal government passed a law so they don't have to disclose the number of people receiving MAID in federal prisons. It is listed under "natural cause deaths" alongside cancer, heart disease, etc.

I wonder... is MAID being offered to prisoners? If not, why not? And if so, is that tantamount to capital punishment?

In the Holocaust, some 6 million Jews were intentionally exterminated by the Nazis in death camps, work camps, gunned down in groups. As well, the Nazis murdered another 6 million or so Roma, gays, dissidents and 'useless eaters'. They were named and the Nazis were good record keepers but thousands of people had been transferred from their home country or region...that takes time. Regarding Kamloops, where is the list of names of the so-called '215'? @ClaireRattee Kitimat seniors needed this project. This is devastating for so many communities. So much invested already.

This wasn’t more than just a line item in a budget. It was a real seniors housing project in Kitimat, in a community with no long-term-care beds and no accessible housing options for aging residents. They did everything asked of them. Mandatory audits. Applications. Meetings. Months of waiting. I met with the minister in December about this exact project after repeated delays. A funding decision was promised. Now, the entire intake was scrapped and $1.4 billion was cut. You can’t tell communities to step up, invest their own money, and then pull the rug out from under them. Seniors are not a budget afterthought.

I met a woman who works in the sex trade. She lives in Seattle but came to Portland for work. She told me she’s been here for two weeks and feels it’s much safer in Seattle and that the men in Portland are sketchier and more dangerous.
