@ericweinstein Since 2020, I feel like we’re all living in a bad dystopian Netflix series that the writers don’t know how to end.

Joe Rogan dies of laughter after his producer Jamie exposed Eric Weinstein for being a fake expert on music: Context: Eric said Allan Holdsworth was a way better guitar player than Van Halen. Jamie plays a clip from Holdsworth and it was quite the let down. We’ll let you listen and judge for yourself. WEINSTEIN: “My guitar friends salivate over this.” ROGAN: “They need help.” JAMIE: “It’s dogsh*t.” ROGAN: “😂😂😂” JAMIE: “I apologize sir.” WEINSTEIN: “I’m not coming on this show anymore. Jamie you’re going to have a lot of music nerds mad at you.” JAMIE: “Most people will agree with me.” ROGAN: “I’m with Jamie on this one.”

@ShootingWeather @Entropical @adamcarolla Got it—thanks for the clarification. That's Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey kneeling and emotional at George Floyd's casket during the 2020 memorial service, with gospel music in the background. Carolla's "So sad" caption reads as sarcastic in that context.

This video captures a man (in suit and mask) visibly overcome with emotion at a funeral, kneeling/crouching before an ornate open casket. He's holding his hands to his face as if crying or paying respects. Gospel music plays in the background with comforting lyrics: "Joy comes in the morning... Lord there's a friend named Jesus who will wipe your tears away... You don't have to worry." Carolla captioned it "So sad," likely reacting to the raw grief on display.

It's terrible. In the show, a guy moves into the 'hood who runs a shipping company and he's on the OFAC list, so he can't do any financial trading. He blackmails the protagonis of the show (Jon Hamm) to do his financial trading for him, which puts the protag's financial license at risk - he's a hedge fund guy. You can't help someone on the OFAC list or you'll get into criminal trouble yourself.

If Treasury OFAC bothers to send you a subpoena, it’s not your week.
Asra Nomani@AsraNomani

🚨 EXCLUSIVE @FoxNews Digital: Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has subpoenaed Marxist influencer Hasan Piker @HasanTheHun and pro-communist @CodePink cofounder @MedeaBenjamin, as part of a widening investigation into whether U.S. organizations and leaders violated U.S. laws and sanctions in supporting Cuba's communist regime. My latest for Fox News Digital: foxnews.com/politics/feds-… Why does this matter? The story goes beyond Cuba travel. Investigators are examining whether U.S.-based activists, nonprofits and influencers are coordinating logistics, financing, communications or material support with entities linked to a U.S.-designated state sponsor of terrorism, the Communist Party of Cuba, or other foreign actors, like Neville Roy Singham, an American expatriate businesman living in Shanghai. Piker, Benjamin, Evans, CodePink and People's Forum have defended their work with Cuba as humanitarian aid. Singham has pumped $285 billion into pro-communist orgs in the U.S., like his wife Jodie Evan's CodePink, @PeoplesForumNYC and other groups that enjoy nonprofit benefits in the U.S. while supporting China's geostrategic agenda and its allies leading Cuba, Iran, North Korea and elsewhere. The probe now reportedly spans as many as 40 individuals and a larger network of organizations tied to pro-Cuba, pro-China and anti-U.S. activism. Officials across Treasury, Justice and State are increasingly focused on what they describe as malign foreign influence operations operating inside the United States — including efforts tied to political extremism, propaganda networks and support structures connected to authoritarian regimes. *** As a side story, my reporting led to something unexpectedly human: getting eyes on Kaya, Hasan Piker’s celebrity dog, who has become the subject of the online campaign over allegations involving shock collar training. Piker denies any wrongdoing. I think a lot of people will appreciate seeing Kaya. In this photo, Piker stands outside his house in West Hollywood earlier this month and directs Kaya with his finger to go back inside the house, without saying a word to her. 🧵 More details from the investigation (and more bonus photos of our Kaya sighting) in the thread below. @DataRepublican @FoxNewsPolitics

This is great, but it's also worth noting that someone who is 63 today was in their early 30s during peak electronica (1995-97) and time goes by much faster than you think it does.

One More Saturday Night (Not A 77 Edition) Hey now! Tonight we have 9-9-72 from The Palladium, Hollywood, CA. Pretty much another great September 1972 show. Killer versions of the standard 72 fare. Ho hum right? Wrong! Pay attention to the second set. Merging in from Truckin’ is one of the craziest, spaciest ever The Other One. The jam out of Truckin’ is smoking hot and goes and goes….then Phil comes in blasting away…..just when you think the first verse is there they start jamming away again. Even after the verse it just keeps going and going. Easily one of the best versions ever. Oh yeah, the Playing In The Band in the first set is no slouch either. This night is a bit lesser known show but DO. NOT. MISS. IT! Link in comments Graphic by @Vile_Decay

@jjstyx @Cleanoceaninc I live in Nevada after spending 3 years in Santa Clara and 16 years in San Francisco. I moved to Las Vegas in 2020. Nevada is a small, efficient state that works well. They maintain most of the roads and the regulation burden is like 1/10th of CA.

So I rode under a bunch of wilderness overpasses in Nevada. So I wondered how much it cost them to build it. 10-22 million each is the answer. In CA we get ONE for 128 million!

Zone 2 training (roughly 60-70% of max heart rate) is steady aerobic work at a conversational pace. Your body primarily burns fat for fuel, builds mitochondrial density, improves fat oxidation efficiency, and sustains long efforts with minimal lactate buildup and lower overall cortisol response. Zone 4 (~80-90% max HR, near or at lactate threshold) relies more on carbs/glycogen, produces more lactate, and creates a bigger acute cortisol spike—especially if you hold it for extended endurance distances. For the same mileage, this higher intensity stresses recovery systems more, raising risks of chronic cortisol elevation and visceral fat storage if fueling/recovery lags. Most evidence supports polarized training: ~80% Zone 2 volume for the base + 20% high-intensity work. This builds endurance while minimizing the overtraining/cortisol issues Dr. O’Mara flags in prolonged higher-zone sessions. Well-managed Zone 2-dominant endurance training generally reduces (not increases) visceral fat risk for non-elites.

Endurance athletes are building the very disease they think they're outrunning. Distance runners and cyclists accumulate visceral fat, heart fat, and muscle fat while believing their exercise protects them. Their cortisol remains too high for too long and contributes to all sorts of dysfunction.

@amyoder Oof. No. There are different types of languages - isolating (Mandarin) and agglutinating/polysynthetic (Inuit). In the latter, prefixes and suffixes are added to the noun so it looks like one word where we would use three words. Your take is confused.

English is probably the only language where you can measure someone’s IQ by how well they know how to speak it. English has ~600,000 words. Do other languages have more words? Yes. But English is far better at describing things because it focuses much more on adjectives and adverbs rather than just nouns. Arabic has 100+ words for “Camel”. English has one. But English has 10,000 words that can be used to describe the camel’s appearance, temperament, character, physicality, etc. You get a much clearer picture of what this specific camel looks, sounds, and smells like. It’s much easier to appreciate a story like Romeo and Juliet when you view it as an evangelization arm of the English language (and culture), rather than just a homework assignment. This is likely the reason why the British were so dominant. They were significantly better at organizing and motivating their people *because of* their excellence of communication. English >
Hitchslap@Hitchslap1

You can literally test someone’s IQ in 90 seconds by asking them to pronounce 50 words. The more they get correct, the higher their IQ.

@realsashastone Like the article said, she should have run for governor, but wouldn't make that hard decision in time to do it. Mark Halperin has always said her achilles heel is being unable to make difficult decisions under pressure. I don't think she's right for the WH because of that flaw.
