Nearly half a decade of managing a local domaining community has given me a front-row seat to how this industry really disappoints newcomers.
2025 in particular, was a strong one. More than 50 domain names were successfully sold on the aftermarket by the members of our community. That result didn’t come from luck. it came from discipline Patience and strategy.
The toughest challenge, especially with new members, is setting the right expectations. Registering a random domain for a few bucks does not automatically make it sellable. Successful domain investing requires Research, Conviction, Clarity, and most importantly Patience.
Many beginners struggle because they don’t fully understand what they’ve registered. They haven’t identified the end user, defined the target industry, or clarified the real use case of the domain. Then, when a few months pass without inquiries or sales, they give up.
Domains don’t sell because they are cheap.
They sell because they make sense to someone who needs them.
The difference between giving up and getting paid is almost always strategy.
