My friend had surgery in France at the same time I had surgery here, mine was on the NHS, the after care were worlds apart! He got visited every day by a district nurse, who had to travel an hour to get to him and me, not even a single call to follow up how I was and I only saw a consultant 8 weeks later. His op was under an hour, mine was 6 hours and I got ignored by the hospital and local surgery, appalling.

The social insurance health systems of France, Germany, Netherlands, Australia offer far better survival rates than the NHS. Thousands of people in the UK are literally dying avoidable deaths every year because of left-wing ideology sticking with a lethal system.

@HydrogenTE @SharePickers Although almost all wind farms are backed by a CFD contract set by that wholesale price, so if power prices fall the cost of 'topping-up' those wind farms will rise We've locked ourselves in to expensive power bills whatever happens in the markets

@SharePickers This is the part most people miss, generation mix doesn’t directly equal price. Until the marginal pricing model changes, gas will keep setting the benchmark

In the last week the UK generated 71% of it's electricity from renewables and nuclear. So why is our energy so expensive? The UK's energy market operates on a "Marginal Pricing" system. In this system, the price of all electricity is set by the most expensive generator needed to meet demand at any given moment—which is almost always natural gas. The government is currently debating REMA (Review of Electricity Market Arrangements). The goal is to "decouple" the price of electricity from gas, allowing consumers to actually see the savings from renewables. However, full implementation of these reforms isn't expected to significantly lower bills until the late 2020s or early 2030s.

@TrisOsborneMP The 98% quoted in that chart is from 2021, the amount of hours gas sets the marginal price would have been a lot lower last year

Natural gas sets our energy price 98% of the time. Gas that is 40% more expensive than wind. It’s critical we move away from this volatile market that puts at risk from geopolitical events.

@MartinSLewis @itvMLshow Is it worth paying higher management fees for an actively managed fund, compared to an index tracking fund?

For the 1st time ever in its 13yr history, tonight 8pm @itvMLshow is a beginners guide to investing. Who should invest, how much, where & how? I'm a touch nervous as its outside my usual territory, but I've a panel to answer Qs and think its a crucial topic. Got questions you want to suggest send them to the team at martinlewis@itv.com

"The world is going to fall apart unless we build more of this stuff.” We asked Hackney local Mark (excuse the dodgy audio - mic issues) how he feels about having our roaming wind turbine in the area. He’ll be there protesting her removal tomorrow.

Doyle, Cover and Marcal are the players to be replaced. I thought Cover did okay but obviously Maresca is trying to add some experience and quality to the side in this second half. They have gotten away with it so far. #LCFC

@kaya85kaya @b280c_2 Except when it's windy enough for gas-fired gen not to be needed, the price drops to zero/negative, and the gas price becomes irrelevant - the market is pretty efficient if its left alone!

@b280c_2 All commodities are priced this way. It's not based on gas but on what the marginal supplier is. This can be anything. Wind solar nuclear hydro anything It happens to be gas in the UK as that is what actually makes marginal supply aka keeps the lights on

From 1st January my electricity price is going up because… yes the global gas price has risen. It’s about time this archaic system in the IK is changed and electricity is totally separated from gas. I don’t have ANY gas at my house so why am I paying over the odds for electric!

@b280c_2 It's not a good pricing mechanism (price for whole period is that of the most expensive component used). The intention was to ensure that rarely used capacity still turns a profit, or there would be more outages.

Crisps Recommendation. As a salt n vinegar connoisseur, I normally eschew posh crisps as they're not strong enough - give me McCoys, Discos etc any day. Yet just had my 1st M&S sea salt & sherry vinegar crisps and they've seriously bucked the trend. PS I've no commercial link and don't want a Lineker-esque role. Just thought other S&Vers should try em!

"The question I want to ask the liberal left is simply this. If you disagree with Suella Braverman then what is YOUR solution to the global migration crisis? Because deriding everybody as "racist" and talking in vague terms about safe & legal routes with no limit is no solution at all."
