The Matrix is definitely cyberpunk, but it’s missing a key component of the genre: the rule of multinational corporations. It’s BARELY touched upon with Neo’s boss and the general look of the agents, but not in any meaningful way.

@RMBee I still say 2009 is worse. Into Darkness is dumb (in part) because the villain’s plan is ridiculously complex. 2009’s has a villain whose plot is ridiculously simple: he’s sent back in time with the means and foreknowledge to prevent a disaster, and he just…doesn’t.
