Karim Lopez measured 6'8.25 barefoot and 222 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, with a 6'11.5 wingspan and 8'9.5 standing reach. Similar to previous measurements, with ample height/length to play either forward spot in the NBA.

@DBCJason @realLatifLove From an analytical standpoint, how detrimental are their measurements to their likelihood of reaching their ceilings?
This is all stuff I’m not too familiar with.
I went from Wagler and Flemings being dream targets for the Mavs at 9 to being totally unsure now.

@StealthSportsX Had heard about Flemings WS and height for some time so not suprised there. Wagler is super disappointing bc I’ve heard 3rd party that it was much better than that (@realLatifLove I just wanna talk…🕊️💔)

CBA constraints make 1st contract production supremely important. Those that come into the league with relative size have intuitively been much better earlier.
Cam Boozer just measured at 27.6 BMI with > avg WS as the most productive player in college at 18. He’s always been # 1

The NBA really dropped the ball by not requiring official measurements until 2024… but just looking at the last two lotteries it’s pretty clear to me that there’s something there with BMI. Archetypal size is important.

Kentucky's Jayden Quaintance measured 6'9 barefoot and 253 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, with a 7'5.25 wingspan and 9'1 standing reach. Quaintance grew an inch over the past two years and has extremely impressive dimensions for an NBA big man.

It cost an unprotected first to move from 16 to 11 last year. Teams don’t move down several spots lightly. If you’re moving up that much it’s an unprotected first at least.

Newest project: Statistical Height Projects how tall a player is based solely on their statistical profile. Aimed to see how “big” a player actually plays based on performance in stats positively correlated with height, independent of their listed height.

No one plays above their size more in this class than TT. The odds are always against a < 6’0 guard, but if anyone can do it, it’s him.

I was thinking Gafford would be a great fit in Charlotte with LaMelo and form a nice tandem at the 5 with Diabate.
Extremely team-friendly contract, as well.
Would they be willing to give up one of 14 or 18 + salary (Green/Williams) for him? Not sure.

@StealthSportsX Definitely possible. Think a lot of teams should be checking up on Gafford’s price in particular, considering the bigs in this class thinned out with returners and the 2027 big class is pretty weak as of now.

@StealthSportsX Could definitely see Mara going to Dallas. Firmly a lottery guy for me but I think there’s a ton of spots he makes sense. LAC at 5, ATL at 8 (my favorite landing spot), DAL at 9, you could sell me on MIL or GSW at 10/11, OKC or CHA feels like the floor at 12/14.
