@upRootNutrition @Rado9910 @rockets_enjoyer You know arthropods are a diverse group? Have you actually engaged with the research on this? I'm only asking you why you think the way you do. It has nothing to do with what I do.

@SteffiGiraffe @Rado9910 @rockets_enjoyer Listen, you're free to believe ganglia are sentient. You're free to refrain from showering to spare the lives of the poor mites on your skin, or advocate for brain dead rights so that lifeless bodies stay on life support. You do you.

At this point, I think I'd actually rather date an open-minded carnist than an average vegan. So far, it seems like converting a reasonable omnivore is massively easier than convincing an average vegan that my approach to veganism is ethically defensible.

@Rado9910 @rockets_enjoyer Bees are probably not sentient. I think the default assumption with arthropods should be non-sentience.

@JaxxUnleashed @Chach18425322 @rickygervais That's a myth. The threats to red squirrels are indirect, through squirrelpox transmission and competition for resources (greys being better at exploiting food sources, not through aggression).

@Chach18425322 @rickygervais I don't care, the grey squirrels have done so much damage to the red squirrel population (and have decimated birds too). You can't re-introduce reds without doing something about the greys, as they'll just attack them again. (They literally rip their nuts off btw.)

@flaviaredpanda Not all nutritional yeast has B12 - you need to make sure the one you're eating has been fortified with it.

b12 is made by bacteria, not animals (commercial farm animals are fed b12 supplements). you can just eat nutritional yeast. if you have adequate vit c intake your body can use non-heme iron. light grown mushrooms have vit d. zinc is found in seeds, nuts, and legumes
💀ᔕTᖇᗩᗯᗷEᖇᖇY ᔕOᑌᖇ ᗪIEᔕEᒪ🪽@PachiT0t

If eating meat is inherently wrong our bodies would not need B12 (not found in plants), heme iron, zinc, vitamin 1, or D. Being vegan is fine, but it’s not “inherently correct”

My own title was, “If my friend Claudia is not conscious, then what the hell is consciousness for?” If Claudia is unconscious, her behaviour shows that an unconscious zombie could survive without consciousness. Why wasn’t natural selection content to evolve competent zombies?

Everyone in the world will get to press one of two buttons. Yesterday, a super-accurate predictor predicted how it would turn out. If you press red, you will certainly survive. If you press blue, then you will live if and only if it was predicted that >50% would choose blue.

@CyberHornet66 @stats_feed I never said it is necessary but few vegans only eat plants and beans. They include tofu, vegan cheese, vegan milk, and things like vegan meat in their diets. All ultra processed.

Greetings from the Mongolian steppe! 🇲🇳🐎🥩 Mongolians domesticated livestock 10,000 years ago and have been eating meat and dairy as our main diet every single day… right up to this moment. In 10,000 years of that diet? We never once got wiped out by cancer. Cancer wasn’t even recorded in Mongolia until 1990. We understand meat quality better than most: Grain-fed factory meat → highest cancer risk Grass-fed farm meat → medium risk True pasture-raised, wild-grass steppe meat (like ours) → zero risk Nomads didn’t just survive on meat for millennia. We built the largest empire in human history on it. Real food. Real strength. No “modern diseases.” The steppe doesn’t lie. Neither does 10,000 years of unbroken health and conquest. 💪🌾 Who else is tired of the anti-meat propaganda? #RealMeat #CarnivoreAncestors #MongolianDiet #GrassFedNotGrainFed #SteppePower

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

The most worrying poll I’ve ever seen is one when they asked doctors “1% of the population had disease X. The test has a 99% accuracy rate. If someone tests positive for disease X, what are the odds they’re have disease X” And like 95% of doctors said ~99%. This is their job.

🐙🐙🐙 Here's what Britons think are acceptable plural terms for 'octopus' Octopi: 57% Octopuses: 37% Octopus: 21% Octopodes: 4% (Respondents could choose multiple options)
Merriam-Webster@MerriamWebster

Plural of 'octopus'? octopi = from the belief that words of Latin origin should have Latin endings octopuses = an English ending to match its adoption as an English word octopodes = from the belief that bc 'octopus' is originally Greek, it should have a Greek ending
